The Lodge having been closed , tho brethren were marshalled into procession , aud walked to St . John ' s Church for Divine Service . Tho remains of the late Bro . Masefield lie in St . John ' s churchyard , he having resided for very many years at Dixon ' s Green . Evening prayer

was used for the service m St . John ' s Church . The Chaplain the Rev . W . J . Down , Vicar of St . Luke ' s , Dudley , assisted by the Rev . C . MaoLaughlin Assistant Chaplain , Burford , near Tenbnry , and the Rev . Llewellyn Noott conducted the service , a special feature of which was

an anthem composed for the occasion by the Provincial Grand Organist Bro . W . Stansfield , F . C . O ., Organist of Dudley Parish Church . During the service the Deputy Provincial Grand Master unveiled the handsome marble tablet erected in the church

to the memory of the late Bro . William Masefield , who not only held high honours in bis Province , but honours of tho Grand Lodge of England . The tablet , which contains emblems of tbe 30 th degree , Knights Templar , Royal Arch , Mark Mason , and Craft Masonry , had the following inscription upon it : —

"In memory of Richard Masefield , P . M . P . Z . P . G . S . B . of England , Deputy P . G . M . of Worcestershire ; born 5 th January 1801 ; died -ffch June 1 S 90 ; whose di tingnished services in Freemasonry endeared him to tbe brethren , who erected this tablet as a mark of brotherly lovo . " The Chaplain preached a sermon from the words " He

being dead yet spoaketh . " The rev . Brother , in the conrse of his sermon , said the circumstances which brought them together that afternoon were , perhaps , both unique and

exceptional . They were met more especially to honour the memory of one who , whilst he lived in their midst , was a most eminent brother , and to Avhose memory the Freemasons of the Province of Worcestershire had erected the

marble tablet just unveiled . Brother Masefield possessed rare and noble qualities , both as a citizen and a Mason , and these qualities he largely used for the benefit and welfare of the Craft . Their late brother was a representative man , and they might well look back upon him as a

representative Mason , one , indeed , from whom Freemasonry in thc town and neighbourhood received new life und activit y . In addition to the tablet the memory of Brother Masefield is to be commemorated by the investment of a sufficient sum of money for the presentation of a prize

annuall y to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls and tho Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , to be called the ' Masefield Prize . " After service the brethren returned to

the Public Hall , where thc duties of Provincial Grand Lod ge were resumed , anti on fche completion of tho work the brethren dined at the Drill Hall , under the presidency ° f tho Deputy Provincial Grand Master .

a large attendance . An interesting feature in connection with the gathering was the presentation of a valuable oil painting of himself to Bro . W . E . Miles , Worshipful Master of the Tennant Lodge . The presentation , which

fl ^ HE annual convocation of the above Provincial Grand JL Chapter was held at the Masonic Temple , Stopford Road , St . Helier ' s , on Friday , the 26 th ult ., under the presidency of the Grand Superintendent , Comp . Col .

and others . The Provincial Grand Chapter having been opened , the minutes of the previous annnal meeting were read at . d confirmed . There are three Chapters in the Province , am they were all represented . The presence of Comps .

Major J . T . Du Jardin P . Z . 590 , and Major J . C . Raven P . Z . 244 , was a source of great pleasnre to the members of the local Chapters , and their pleasure was enhanced by the fact that these esteemed Companions were placed by the

Grand Superintendent that evening , the former in the chair of P . G . P . H ., and thc latter in the chair of Second Principal of the Province . Thoy are both old Royal Arch Masons , and it is , therefore , an honour which reflects alike on the Companions , the Chapter , and the Province .

The nsual routine business of the Povincial Graud Chapter having been transacted , the Provincial Grand Officers for the year were invested , the following being the complete list : —

The appointed Comps . Prov . G . P . S ., Prov . 1 st G . A . S ., Prov . 2 nd G . A . S ., Provincial Grand Standard Bearer , Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies , and Provincial Grand Organist , were not invested owing to their unavoidable absence .

The annual balance sheet was then produced and read . This had been audited and found correct ; it showed a very satisfactory financial condition of the Provincial Grand Chapter , and was unanimously adopted and ordered to be entered on the minutes .

The sum of five guineas was voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , to be placed on the list of the Grand Superintendent Comp . Colonel E . C . Malet de Carteret , who purposes acting as Steward of this Province for tho

ensuing Fettival of that Institution , and Comp . J . M . Bichard P . G . S . B . set a good example towards opening a private subscription list by making a donation of half-aguinea towards it . Article 2 of the Bye-Laws , with regard to Article 31 Constitutions :, then came under due
