One of his latest Masonic acts was to assist at the ceremony ot the installation of the Right Hon . Sir Samuel Way , Bart ., as Master of the Adelaide Mark Lodge . In Freemasonry he was one of the most prominent and active members , having been connected with the Craft uninterruptedly for over 3 6 years . He was initiated in the Lodge of Harmony , Adelaide , in 1862 , on the same night as the present Grand Master of the Colony , Bro . the Rig ht Hon . Sir Samuel Way . Prior to the formation of the Grand Lodge of South Australia , in 1884 , Bro .
Dakers held prominent offices under the Dist . Grand Lodge of England , his last office under that Grand Lodge being thit of Dist . G . Treasurer . Under the Grand Lodge of South Australia he filled several high offices with conspicuous ability , including those of Senior and Junior G . Warden and G . Inspector of Lodges . During his residence in England he was a member of several lodges , and obtained a distinguished position there . He was one of the founders of the Royal Leopold Lodge , No . 1669 , and , after filling the chair , was Treasurer for
many years . During the Queen ' s Jubilee of 1887 he was one of the Stewards appointed in connection with the Benevolent Funds of the Grand Lodge of England , and was a Steward of the Girls' School , one of the great Masonic Charities in England . He was also one of the founders and Past Masters of the Kintore Lodge , No . 333 , in Mark Masonry in England , and held office in the Prov . Grand Mark Lodge of Middlesex . In South Australia he filled the highest offirjes in the Royal Arch Chapter , was associated with the Supreme Grind Chapter , and
also with Knight Templary . In April , 18 9 8 , Bro . Dakers was made the recipient of a handsome cheque from the brethren in South Australia on the occasion of his departure to take up his residence in Victoria . The presentation was made at the Annual Communication of Grand Lodge , and in handing over the testimonial the Grand Master remarked of Bro . Dakers : " The lustre of his services
in England spread from the metropolis to various parts of the country . His service for the Craft in South Australia forms part of the history of Freemasonry in this colony . ... As a Grand Officer at Masonic functions my old comrade and friend has by his presence and assistance helped me very much . . . . We shall ever remember his sterling , manly Masonic character .
