CONSECRATION OF THE OLD MASONIANS ' LODGE , No . 2700 .

An important Masonic function , whic ' i will doubtless have far-reaching effects in the future , took p hce at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet-street , E . G ., on the 23 rd inst ., when the Old Masoriians' Lodge , No . 2703 , was consecrated . The new lodge , as the name implies , is composed of members of the Old

Masonians' Association , which has rendered valuable service in the past amongst the ex-pupils of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . The Board of Management of that Institution and Bro . J . M . McLeod , the Secretary , lent their valuable assistance to the new venture , which , starting at a most favourable time , when the ll > ys' School is brought prominently

to the notice of the Craft , and being officered , with the exception of the W . M ., by ex-pupils , should speedily make its mark . A delicate compliment was paid by thc old boys , on the suggestion of Bro . MCLEOD , to the sister Institution by a donation of 10 guineas to the Girls' School , and the appointment of a Steward to represent the lodge at the next festival .

The CONSECRATING OITICER then addressed the brethren , and said they had met together on an occasion of exceptional interest . They were there for the purpose of constituting and starting into existence . 1 new Iodge—a lodge which would be composed of those connected with an Institution of which they were all proud , ar . d the Centenary Festival of which they were looking forward to with the greatest possible interest . That lodge in some

respects would be unique , because composed to a great extent , mt onl y of Masons , but the sons of Masons , and he most heartily congratulated the lodge on having at its head during the first year so distinguished a bro : her as Bro . Keyser , whom he would shortly have the pleasure of installing into the chair . He sincerely trusted the lodge might have bsfore it a career of the greatest prosperity , and accomplish all those special objects the founders had

in view . The warrant was read by the D . C , and the founders signified their approval of the officers named . Bro . the Rev . C J . MARTYN , Past Grand Chaplain , then delivered an oration .

The new loc'ge was then solemnly consecrated with the usual ceremonial , after which Bro . C . E . Keyser , P . G . D ., was installed as thc first W . M . by the G . Secretary , and the solo— " 62 thou faithful unto death "—impressively sung by Bro . Fell . Thc following officers were invested : Bros . Col . Clifford Probyn , J . P .,

A vote of thanks was accorded the Consecrating Ofiicers , those of their number who were not founders being elected honorary members , and the Grand Secretary was presented with a founder ' s jewel as a souvenir of the occasion . The GUANU SECRETARY returned thanks for the compliment .

Letters of regret for non-attendance were announced from Bros . I ' . Binckes , G . Everett , J . Terry , Sec . R . M . B . I . ; F . R . W . Hedges , Sec . R . M . I . G . ; S . Attenborough , and others . Bro . E . Roehrich , J . W ., was elected Steward to represent ths lodge at the Centenary Festival of the Boys' School , and the sum of 10 guineas was voted to his list .

On the suggestion of Bro . MiLiion—who urged the desirability of an impartial support of all three Institutions—a sum of 10 guineas was voted to the Girls' School , and Bro . McLeod was elected Steward to represent the lodge , having previously obtained ^ , " 90 on his list from friends . Seveial init ' ates were proposed—the first being Mr . R . H . McL'jod , a son of the Secretary of the Institution—and the lodge was closed . After bar . qiet the usual toasts were honoured .

THE MARIUAGE of Mr . John Courtown E . Shelley , 2 nd Battalion Scots Guards , with the Hon . Eleanor Rolls , only daughter nf Bro . Lord and Lady Llangattock , was celebrated in All Saints' Church , Ennismire Girdcns , on Saturday afternoon last . The church was handsomely decorated , and the aisle was lined by the non-com nissinied ollicers and men , with the p pers of ihi brid .-groom ' s battalion . A lirge circle of friends afterwards assembled at South Lnd ; e , where t ' le rjecpti m was held hy Lady Llangattock .

Provincial Grand Lodge Of Guernsey And Alderney.

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF GUERNSEY AND ALDERNEY .

A meeting of the above Provinci il Grand Lodge was held on the 22 nd instant , at the Masonic Temple , Le Marchant-street , Guernsey , under the presidency of Bro . J . Balfour Cockburn , P . G M ., who was supported by Bro . E . C . Ozanne , D . P . G . M . The attendance of the members of the Prov . G . Ledge was \ e-y large , thc assemblage bsing swelled by a number of Master Masons .

After the minutes of the meeting on June Sth , 1 S 97 , had been read and confirmed , the P . G . M . invested B-o . T . C . Price as P . S . G . W ., and Bro . F > C . Sparrow as P . S . G . D ., both having been absent at the last meeting . After the rejection by a small majority of the Auditors' report on the accounts of the year ,

Bro . J . T . Laine was unanimously re-elected P . G . Treasurer for the ensuing year . The sum of 20 guineas , as recommended by the _ P . G . M ., to the R . M . LB ., was unanimously voted . Bros . T . C . Royle and VV . Stanger were elected Auditors for the ' year . The P . G . M . then invested his officers as follows :

Joseph Paleman Bliss , which proved unanimous , and he was duly initiated . Bro . Cass then vacated the chair in favour of the W . M . Previous to the lodge being closed , a Committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for the usual sumrair outing . After p .-riakirg of dinner , the custcmary loyal toasts were gone through in brief , hut feelirg termsard were duly honoured .

, The toastof "Ihe Wcrihipful Matter" was proposed by Bro . P \ k % I . P . M ., who alluded to his excellent working in the lodge , and also presiding over them that night , ar . d sl-o complimented Bio . Cass , P . M ., on the work of initiation . ' I he VV . M . responded in appropriate terms . The initiate , Bro . Bliss , in a short spuech , spoke of his app-eciition of the hjmur the lodge had conferred upon him in making him a member .

In responding as one of the visitors , Bio . Dawson , P . M ., Preceptor of the Blackheath Ledge ol Instruction , in the course of his remarks , said he did not consider the P . Ms , of a lodge as so many old fossils . but more like books bound up and put upon a shelf to bc taken down and referred to when necessary . The usual toasts of "Ihe Treasurer , " "Secretary , " "Past Masters , " and the " Ofiicers " of the lodi ; e , followed , and were duly responded to .

Bros . J . Hay , Cooke , Broadway , Stunt , and Hobley , rendered some excellent songs . A flute solo by liro . Dciham , P . M ., and a violin solo by Mr . Newton were also very ably given , and were much appreciated . Bro . Warren Tear presided at the piano in his excellent manner , and a most pleasant evening was biought to a close by the Tyler ' s toast .

Skelmersdale Lodge , No . 1599 . The installation meeting of this lodge was held on the 14 th instant at the Ship and Turtle Tavern , Leadenhall-street , ICC . Bro . F . W . Horn duly installed Bro . Herbert Peirce in the chair of K . S . The new W . M . appointed and invested the following as officers : Bros . C . K . Cove , S . VV . ; W . Callingham , J . VV . ; C . H . A . Harris , P . M ., Treas . ; G . Eiker , E . M ., Sec . ; C . W . Hall , S . D . j II . VV . Mellor , J . D . ; U . S . Kasty , LG . ; E . J . Wickenden , P . M ., D . C . ; VV . Moklcr , Stwd . ; R . P . The lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the large hall , where a most recherche banquet was served in the usual admirable manner for which this ancient hostelry is so famous . At thc request of the W . M ., who exhibited a praiseworthy example , speeches were short , there being an exceptionally excellent programme of music under the direction of Bro . Arthur Carlyle ( in thc regretted absence , through ill-health , of the Organist , Bro .

A meeting of the above Provinci il Grand Lodge was held on the 22 nd instant , at the Masonic Temple , Le Marchant-street , Guernsey , under the presidency of Bro . J . Balfour Cockburn , P . G M ., who was supported by Bro . E . C . Ozanne , D . P . G . M . The attendance of the members of the Prov . G . Ledge was \ e-y large , thc assemblage bsing swelled by a number of Master Masons .

After the minutes of the meeting on June Sth , 1 S 97 , had been read and confirmed , the P . G . M . invested B-o . T . C . Price as P . S . G . W ., and Bro . F > C . Sparrow as P . S . G . D ., both having been absent at the last meeting . After the rejection by a small majority of the Auditors' report on the accounts of the year ,

Bro . J . T . Laine was unanimously re-elected P . G . Treasurer for the ensuing year . The sum of 20 guineas , as recommended by the _ P . G . M ., to the R . M . LB ., was unanimously voted . Joseph Paleman Bliss , which proved unanimous , and he was duly initiated . Bro . Cass then vacated the chair in favour of the W . M . Previous to the lodge being closed , a Committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for the usual sumrair outing . After p .-riakirg of dinner , the custcmary loyal toasts were gone through in brief , hut feelirg termsard were duly honoured .

, The toastof "Ihe Wcrihipful Matter" was proposed by Bro . P \ k % I . P . M ., who alluded to his excellent working in the lodge , and also presiding over them that night , ar . d sl-o complimented Bio . Cass , P . M ., on the work of initiation . ' I he VV . M . responded in appropriate terms . The initiate , Bro . Bliss , in a short spuech , spoke of his app-eciition of the hjmur the lodge had conferred upon him in making him a member .

In responding as one of the visitors , Bio . Dawson , P . M ., Preceptor of the Blackheath Ledge ol Instruction , in the course of his remarks , said he did not consider the P . Ms , of a lodge as so many old fossils . but more like books bound up and put upon a shelf to bc taken down and referred to when necessary . The usual toasts of "Ihe Treasurer , " "Secretary , " "Past Masters , " and the " Ofiicers " of the lodi ; e , followed , and were duly responded to .

Bros . J . Hay , Cooke , Broadway , Stunt , and Hobley , rendered some excellent songs . A flute solo by liro . Dciham , P . M ., and a violin solo by Mr . Newton were also very ably given , and were much appreciated . Bro . Warren Tear presided at the piano in his excellent manner , and a most pleasant evening was biought to a close by the Tyler ' s toast .

Skelmersdale Lodge , No . 1599 . The installation meeting of this lodge was held on the 14 th instant at the Ship and Turtle Tavern , Leadenhall-street , ICC . Bro . F . W . Horn duly installed Bro . Herbert Peirce in the chair of K . S . The new W . M . appointed and invested the following as officers : Bros . C . K . Cove , S . VV . ; W . Callingham , J . VV . ; C . H . A . Harris , P . The lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the large hall , where a most recherche banquet was served in the usual admirable manner for which this ancient hostelry is so famous . At thc request of the W . M ., who exhibited a praiseworthy example , speeches were short , there being an exceptionally excellent programme of music under the direction of Bro . Arthur Carlyle ( in thc regretted absence , through ill-health , of the Organist , Bro .
