THE DUCHESS OF ALBANY left Cannes on her return to London on Sunday last . Her Royal Highness was accompanied to the station by Queen Wilhelmina and the Queen-Regent of Holland . PRINCESS CHARLES OF DENMARK and Princess Victoria of Wales returned to Cromer , on Tuesday , from Sandringham . Princess Victoria's prolonged stay will come to a termination on Monday next .

PRINCESS CHRISTIAN * and Princess Victoria and Prince Christian Victor of Schlesw ' g-Holstein witnessed the performance of "The Dove-cot" at the Duke of York ' s 1 heatre on Saturday evening . T . THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES , Princess Victoria , Princess Charles of Denmark , the Duchess of Fife , and Bro . the Duke of Fife attended divine service at Sandringham Church on Sunday morning .

THE Ciry POLICE gave , at the Cannon street Hotel , their annual ball on Tuesday , the 2 ( Jth inst . I ' he guests numbered fully 1100 , and the whole of the public rooms of the hotel were requisitioned for dancing , concerts , and supper . Music for the long and varied programme was supplied by the band of the City Police and Stewart ' s Quadrille Party , while amongst those who assisted in the entertainment were Mr . H . drover , Miss Kate James , and Miss Ada Alexander . The Lord Mayor ( Bro . Alderman Davies , M . P . ) and Lady Mayoress were present in State during the evening , with the Sheriffs and Under Sheriffs , with their ladies , and other civic functionaries .

B ., Comminder-in-Chitf at Pjrtsmouth , and Lady Culme-Seymour , went on Saturday last on board the Vernon torpedo-school ship , and remained for about an hour . Their Royal Highnesses sa * some mining and torpedo experiments which wire carried out alongside . One mine was exploded by the Duchess , and a tenoared cutter " manned " with dummies took an aerial flight . In the afternoon the Duke and Duchess inspected the Royal Naval Hospital at Hailar , and took tea with the medical staff .

Col . Davies , M . P ., President of the Institution , in the absence of the Duke of Connaught , who was to have presided , occupied the chair . The Royal toasts having been duly honoured , the Lord Mayor proposed " Success to St . Mirk ' s Hospital . " The Duke of Connaught had , as he could not be present , sent a cheque

for £ 25 . ( Cheers . ) The hospital was founded in 1 S 35 with 24 beds , increased to 42 when the building was enlarged in iS' / S . Since the foundation the numbjr of patients cured or relieved exceeded 81 , 500 . After some further remarks , his lordship earnestly appealed for further and more liberal support ; The toast was drunk with great enthusiasm , and the . Secretary announced that £ 2100 had been subscribed , theCnairman's list amounting to £ 450 , including 100 guineas from the Corporation of L- > nd > n and 2 q puineas from himself .
