W ., proposed the " W . M . " Bro . T . L . Bold , W . M ., replied briefly . Several other toasts and songs were-given , and the proceedings were brought to a close . The harmony and instruction of the evening were considerably enhanced by the exertion of Bro . Parker , P . M ., No . 481 , and the address of Bro . W . Dawson , P . M ., No . 44 .
LINCOLNSHIRE . Boston . —Lodge of Harmony ( No . 339 ) . —At the monthly communication of the members of this Lodge , holden on 9 th December last , Bro . Cabourn Pocklington , the late S . W . of that Lodge , was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . Daniel Jackson , P . M ., unanimously re-elected Treasurer . It was also resolved to hold the Festival of St . John on Monday the 29 th of December , St . John ' s Day falling this year on a Saturday ( one of the market-days at Boston ) .
At the Lodge holden on December 29 th , Bro . Pocklington was installed according to ancient custom W . M . of the Lodge , the ceremony of installation being performed by P . M . Bro . Greenwood . The W . M . appointed and invested Bros . Roberts ( late J . W . ) , S . W . ; Close ( late Sec ) , J . W . ; and re-appointed Bros . E . Jackson , S . D . ; Waghorn , J . D . ; Marjason , I . G . He also appointed Bros . Kent and Bland , Stewards . After the Lodge was closed , the Brethren dined together
at Bro . Jackson ' s ( the host of the Peacock Inn ) , where a large party did ample justice to the excellent dinner and wines provided . After the cloth was withdrawn the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and interspersed with some excellent songs , sung by Brethren present , and the evening banquet concluded , as it began , in harmony .
Spalding . —Hundred of Elloe Lodge ( No . 690 ) . —The Festival of St . John was celebrated on Thursday , the 8 th January , when Bro . C . Pocklington , the W . M . for the past year , installed in a very effective manner his successor , Bro . Wood , Past J . W . The newly installed W . M . then appointed as his Officers for the ensuing year—Bros . Bidgway , S . W . ; Dolman , J . W . ; Bates , P . M ., Sec ; Tyler and Bingham , Beacons ; and Briggs he re-appointed I . G . After the Lodge business was terminated , the Brethren adjourned to Bro . Bingham ' s , at the White Hart Hotel , where they partook of an excellent and substantial banquet , the W . M . in the chair . After the cloth was drawn , the usual Masonic toasts were
given with the accustomed honours , and the Brethren , after enjoying one of those delightful reunions usual to Masons , parted in harmony and Brotherly love .
MONMODTHSHIBE . Newport . —Silurian Lodge ( No . 693 ) , and Lsca Lodge ( No . 983 ) . —The annual meeting of the Silurian Lodge was held on the 30 th of December . The ceremony of opening the magnificent building Avhich has been erected for the purposes of a Masonic Hall , inaugurated the proceedings of the day . The building has a very tastefully and elaborately-decorated exterior , and internally is fitted up with every requisite necessary for the purpose for which it is intended . Besides a capacious Lodge-room , 44 feet long by 24 feet wide , and sufficiently
lofty , with appropriate anterooms , the building comprises very commodious cellars and offices . The business of the day was threefold , for besides the opening of a new hall , and the installation of the W . M . of the Silurian Lodge , a new Lodge called the Ci lsca , " was opened , and the installation of the W . M . of this Lodge took place at the same time . At two o ' clock the Lodge was opened with the usual formalities by Bro . Coombs , of the Silurian Lodge .
