Oldham . —St . George Encampment . —This Encampment met at the Angel Hotel , Oldham , on Eriday , the 16 th January , Sir Knight John George Blackburne , E . C . ; Sir Knight Thomas Matt in son , 1 st Capt . ; and Sir Knight J . Gaitskell , 2 nd Capt . Four Companions stood for installation , but owing to the unavoidable
absence from home of some , the pressing engagements of other Sir Knights , and the indisposition of the Equerry , the business was adjourned to an Encampment of Emergency to be held some time in the course of the current month . The Knights of this Encampmet are loyal and brave , and its future prospects are bright and cheering .

St . Mark ' s Lodge ( No . 1 ) . —The progress of Mark Masonry among the Brethren in England * may be gathered from the fact that the St . Mark ' s Lodge under warrant form the Grand Chapter of Scotland at present numbers fifty members , having only obtained its charter in July , and commenced regular work in September . At an emergency meeting on the 14 th ult ., eight Brethren were advanced to this Degree by the B . W . Bro . H . G . Warren . Of these candidates three came up from Lancashire to qualify themselves to apply for a warrant for a Lodge in Bolton . At the regular meeting on the 21 st January , four other Brethren were advanced , one of whomy Bro . Lieut .-Col . Walter of the
35 th came from the Eureka Lodge , Dundalk , No . 47 , on the Irish Registry . The gallant Bro . started in two days after his advancement to join his regiment at Calcutta . The ceremony was efficiently performed by Bro . Hughes , D . B . W ., ably assisted by the Officers .
