After his rem for some years as a surgeon ^ in King-street , Finsbury ^ for Masonry and jealous performance of its duties were strikingly displayed , as is doubtless in the recollection of many old metropolitan Brethren . He subsequently resided at Tetburyy in Gloucestershire ; and , in 1845 , removed to Sutton Coldfield , in Warwickshire , where his existence terminated .
Few men have been more ardently attached to the theory and practice of Masonry than our departed Brother , and this was strongly exemplified by his readily consenting to fill in succession the assistant } offices in the Howe Lodged - —the Lodge of his adoption and fondest affection , —after having previously attained to the highest rank in others . His unassuming manner had gained for hini the general love of his Brethren , who resolved to mark their regret for his loss by placing the Lodge-room in black , and assuming Masons' mourning for three montjhs after the period of his decease .
