"We also think the time will come when the desirability of making a catalogue of all deceased Masons registered in the books of the Grand . Lodge , will be found to be necessary and useful for the information of the Craft in
general , as there are many occasions for which individual members require such knowledge , ; and if it be thought too expensive a proceeding , a fee might be charged for searching , which would in a very short space of time cover the outlay required , and leave a surplus to be carried to the general funds of the charities .
Should our plan of biographical sketches meet with approval , we should feel obliged to any private Lodges , or Brethren , kindly furnishing us with the names , dates of initiation , and the offices ( if any ) held by , or such other hints as they may think fit , respecting deceased eminent Brethren coming within the scope of our plan . Such communications , addressed " Scriba , " in care of Bro . Warren , will be thankfully received and courteously acknowledged , From various causes it will be impossible to preserve an
alphabetical , or even chronological , arrangement of these sketches , but amongst those in preparation at the present time are : —Brothers Rev .
