TO CGEEESPONDENTS . € i W . M . "—There can be no doubt on the subject . The law is definite enough , as may be seen by reference to p . 59 of the Book of Constitutions , which says : — ( l A Lodge of Emergency may , at any time , be called , by the authority of the Master ; or , in his absence , of the Senior Warden ; or , in their absence , of the Junior
Warden ; but on no pretence without such authority . The business to be transacted at such Lodge of Emergency shall be expressed in the summons , recorded on the minutes , and no other business shall be entered upon . " To your second question we need only refer you to the same page of the Constitutions , where you will find , " ¦ No Lodge shall be permitted to alter its name without the like approbation , " i . e ., of the Grand Master or Prov . Grand Master .
" Ambition . "—A Prov . Grand Master has to pay three guineas for his patent , and twenty guineas to the Fund for General Purposes ; with , should he not have served the office of Grand Steward , an additional twenty guineas to tfre Fund of Benevolence .
" Grand Standard Beakers" may be appointed by the Grand Master , should he think fit , but we never recollect such an appointment in English Craft Masonry . " Inquirer" must have strangely misunderstood us— -we never advocated anything so ridiculous . The Philanthropic Lodge , Huntspili ; Lodge of Sincerity , Stonehouse ; and other favours , arrived too late for the present number .
