" Whereas the honour , usefulness , and beneficent objects of the institution of Freemasonry of the State of New York have suffered and are suffering by reason of differences and disagreements among the Fraternity of this State , " Now , therefore , the undersigned committees , appointed by the parties hereinafter mentioned , in view of amicably and permanently ending such differences and disagreements , to the end that the harmony which is compatible with the true principles of Freemasonry may prevail , do mutually assent and interchangeably subscribe to the following provision , as a pnq > ui and equitable manner of ending such differences and disagreements .
" And if said provisions are adopted and confirmed by the parties respectively , to wit : that knoAvn as the Grand Lodge of the State of New York , of Avhich John L > Lewis , Jr ., is Grand Master , and that knoAvn as the Grand Lodge of the State of New York , of which James Jenkinson is Grand Master , then these provisions shall be considered a fundamental regulation of the Grand Lodge of the State of New York .
