THE NEW POSTAL Axaux & BHENT . —On the 1 st of October last the new postal arrangement came into operation , by which the postage of the MAGAZINE is reduced one-half , of Avhich our subscribers will receive the full benefit . In future , those of our subscribers who pay one year in advance will receive the MAGAZINE post-fee . The price of the MAGAZINE will thus be
reduced from 17 s . 4 d , to 13 s . per annum . Under this arrangement the following will be the terms of subscription : —One year , paid in advance , 13 s . ; six mouths , 7 s . 7 d . ; single numbers , hy post , 3 Ad . "We hope that by thus giving the advantage to our subscribers thoy will , in return , use their best endeavours to increase our circulation , by inducing their friends also to become

Tho Royal Standard Lodge of Instruction ( No . 12 QS , ) meets every Friday evening at S pm ., at the Marquess Tavern , Canonbui-y . Bro . Wigginton , P . M ., 902 , W . M . 129 S , President ; Bro , R . Lee , Preceptor . On the 2 Sth ult , the noble Masonic Hall at Watford was totall y
destroyed by fire , caused by overheating- the flue of the Corn Exchange buildings adjoining , Avhich must havo been badly or carelessly constructed , as the fine so closely touched the Hall , as to ignite the timbers of the latter . The conflagration commencing on the roof ; allowed time enough for the lady proprietress to remove a great portion of the fittings , glass and furniture .
The Watford fire brigade was soon the spot , but in consequence of the delay caused by the loss of time in obtaining water thoy were unable to save the building . The roof of the Corn Exchange is likewiso destroyed . The Hull was the Lodge property , and built some 35 years since , and was insured for £ 600 , and the furniture for ; G 200 , hence it is expected no great loss
will be sustained by the Watford lodge . It is not yet decided where the lodge , chapter , and encampment will meet , until a new Hall is erected ; but , most probably the meetings will be held at the Clarendon Hotel . 'Die Committee of Management of this Institution met on the 11 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Bro . Major J . Creaton , V . P ., in the chair ; Bros . J . Hervey G . Sec .,- W-. Young , Benjamin Head , Walters , Joseph Smith , H . Browse , R . J . Spiers , E . J . Frnser . H . AV . Hemsworth , J . B . Sheen , H . M . Levy , John Bellerby . and AV . Famfield ( Secretary . ) . Eight males and four females were added to the list for election , and Bro . Famfield read a report from the Warden of the
Almshouses , stating , amoug other tilings , that Bro . Heniswortk's handsome present of wine , and also Bro . Thompson ' s present of store ale ( through Bro , Bidenham , a steward ) , had been received , and were much enjoyed by the inmates at- Christmas , and they all returned their best thanks for the same . The Committee then adjourned . The Annual Festival of this Institution will be held at
Freemasons' Tavern , on the 3 rd of February . Bro . Colonel Burdett , Prov . G . M . for Middlesex , will take the chair . ^ EOYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS . There were also present Bros . Peter Matthews , C . Watson , W . Greaves , J . Bale ^ J . B . Ciabatta , Collard Montrie , W . H . Honey , and H . Potter , P . M ' s . Bro . P . Matthews , who has been the Installing Master in this long succession of years , proceeded to install Bv .
