He stated that in order to prevent anything of this nature he had kept his marriage a secret

the members of the Wilberforce Lodge of Freemasons , No . 2134 , on the occasion of his marriage . Hull , 4 th June 1888 . " At the supper which followed , Bro . M . C . Peck proposed the health of the Worshipful Master in eulogistic terms . He pointed out that a Mason should be a good man , a moral man , and a temperate and
sober man on all occasions , and all these Bro . Gillett had proved himself to be . He had been a most useful member of the Order , and they had one proof of that in the part he took in the formation of -uch an excellent Lodge as the Wilberforce Lodge . He wished Bro Gillett long life and happiness . The Worshi pful Master acknow lodged the compliment . Other toasts followed .
The Government of Guatemala has officia ll y sanctioned the existonco of Freemasons in that republic by recognizing the ' r existence as a corporate body , a 3 customary with all societies , but without having more to do with their operations than it would with those of a commercial firm . Less than twenty years ago the
suggestion that such a course shonlrl be adopted by the Government would have been considered heresy , and the unfortunate suErgestors would have been held as objects of suspicion by many of their feliow-eitizons .
