Bro . Voigt v . Bros . Carr , Trevor , and Laking . alHIS very un-Masonic Action was tried at Leeds on the 10 th Au <* -. . last , before Mr . Justice Bowen and a common jury , for libol alleged to bo conl-ained in a circular ( issued according to regulation ) ' by tho W . M . ( Bro . Can- ) and tbo Secretary ( Bro . Laking ) , two of tbo defendants , to tho rnemboi-s of Lodge Alexandra , No . 1511 , Hornsea , which embodied a motion by tho other defendant ( Bro . Trevor ) for tho exclusion from the Lodgo of tho plaintiff ( Bro .
voigt ) —see reports of the trial in tho Times of 12 th August and the FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE of 21 st August last . On tho 9 th February 1877 , a few days after his exclusion , the plaintiff served , the defendants with notice of this action , without any remonstrance with them or the Lodge , or appeal of any sort to higher Masonio authority . But in consequence of the order ma do a few months later by Mr . Justice Field , before whom his demurrer was heard in tho Queen ' s Bench , that tho case " should stand over to go before tho Grand Master , " the plaintiff appealed to his Provincial Grand Master , Lord Zetland , who declined to
interfere with the sentence of exclusion passed against him In / the Lodge . He did not , however , withdraw tho legal proceedings ho had instituted against the defendants , and ultimately obtained a verdict with " One Favtliin "" damages . "" Seeing that this Action has been brought in open defiance of all Masonic principles and law , I earnestly appeal to tho Fraternity at largo , to assist mo in defraying the very heavy costs of tho defence , which fall chiefly on mo , and will amount to £ 150 at the least , and which I am quite unable to boar without their fraternal and liberal help .

The annual meeting of the Provincial Grancl Lodge of Cheshire will be held on Wednesday nexfc , 22 nd inst ., at the Public Hall , Runcorn , under the direction of the Rt . Hon . Lord De Tabley Prov . Grand Master . A Committee
Meeting of the Fund of Benevolence of the Province "will be held the same day at 12 . 30 , "when the various Petitions before the Province , either for pecuniary relief or otherwise will be considered and decided on . Among the business which will require attention in Prov . G . Lodge is a notice
of motion proposed by Bro . John Wood P . G . S . W . to the
following effect : — " Thafc from the Funds of tbe Provincial Grand Lodge the sum of 100 Guineas be voted to the Koyal Masonic Benevolent Institution for Aged Freemasons and Widows , —50 Guineas to each Fund , — thereby giving the B . W . the P . G . Master of Cheshire—Vice-Patron of the Institution—30 Votes at each Election . "
This very material addition to the funds of the R . M . Benevolent Institution will we have no doubt be unanimously agreed to , and will prove another instance of the liberality of the brethren of this district . At 2 o ' clock the brethren will walk in procession to the Parish Church ,
where Divine Service will be held . After the Sermon a collection will be made in aid of the Provincial Fund of Benevolence . After the closing of Prov . Grand Lodge a
banquet will be held at the National Schools , tickets foi which will be obtainable from the P . G . Stewards at the Hall . We hope to have the pleasure of attending ancl taking part in what promises to be a pleasant gathering .
HOLLOWAY ' S Puis . —The chief wonder of modem times . —This incomparable medicine increases the appetite , strengthens the stomach , cleanses tho liver , corrects biliousness , and prevents flatulency , purifies tho system , invigorates the nerves , and reinstates sound health . The enormous demand for these Pills throughout the globo astonishes everybody , ancl a single trial convinces tho most sceptical that no medicine equals Holloway ' s Pills in its ability to remove all complaints incidental to the human race . They arc a blessing to tho afflicted , and a boon to all who labour under internal or external disease . The purificii - tion of the blood , removal of all restraints from the secretive organs , and gentle aperient action , are the prolific sources of the extensive curative range of Holloway ' s Pills .
