THE installation meeting of this Chapter was held on Thursday evening , 10 th January , at Masons' Hall Tavern , Masons ' - avenue , Coleman-street , City . Comps . P . Sharratt M . E . Z ., Carrington H ., H . Thompson P . Z . J . The Convocation having been duly opened , and the minntes of the last Convocation read and confirmed , Comp . E . H . Frances ( Surrey ) took the chair , when Comps . Carrington
Bridmore , and Bond wero severally presented and installed into the chairs of M . E . Z ., H ., and J ., the whole of these long and interesting ceremonies being performed with au { repressiveness and caro rarely , if ever , surpassed . Comp . Frances was ably assisted by Comp . Vincent , of the Eccleston Chapter . The following wore tho appointments made : —Comps . Carriugton M . E . Z ., Pridraore H ., Bond J ., Leaman
P . S ., Sharratt Treasurer , Green S . E ., Gordon S . N ., Bavin Janitor . A handsome jewel waa presented to Comp . Sharratt , he having occupied the position of M . E . Z . for two years . A cordial vote of thanks was nnanimously passed to Comps . Frances and Vino nt for the valuable services they had rendered in the ceremonies of installation .
Propositions for joining and exaltation at the next Convocation were given , and the Chapter was closed iu clue form , and adjourned nntil April next . The Companions then retired to tbe banquet room for refreshment , and on the withdrawal of the cloth the usual Royal Arch toasts were given and responded to . The entire proceedings gave unqualified satisfaction .
WANDERERS' CHAPTER , No . 1604 . .
THE ordinary convocation was held on Tuesday , the 15 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall . The Chapter was opened by the principals , Comps . G . Boulton Z ., W . Vincent H ., F . Wray J ., assisted by Comp . Meredith P . Z ., and the Companions were admitted . After the minntes of the last convocation had been read and confirmed , a ballot was taken for Brother Gilbert , of the Caxton Lodge , 1853 , which proving
unanimous in bis favour , he was duly exalted into B . A . Masonry . The election for Officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with , and resulted in the election of Comps . W . Vincent as Z ., F . Wray as H ., Seale as J ., Baker S . E ., Bufcterworth S . N ., Fuller Treasurer ,
Coop P . S . ( who nominated W . Bnndley and A . Woods as his Assistants ) , Soharfcau Organist , and Lackland Janitor . Comps . Horace White and G . Hamilton were elected Auditors . THE sixth annual ball of tbe above Lodge , in conjunction with its Chapter , was held on the 11 th inst ., at the Westminster Town Hall , Caxton-street , under the presidency of the W . M . of the Lodge , Bro . C . Tayler , who was supported by the following Stewards : — Bros . A . W . Beckham Secretary , R . Bottle Junior Warden , W . H . Baker , W . Chilcott , J . C . Flattely P . M ., J . Gait Fisher Past Master , S . Jones P . M ., H . J . Johnson S . W ., C . James , A . A . Johnston J . D .,
D . McLeod P . M ., E . Powell P . M ., E . Peacock P . M ., J . Pnrnell , W . Vincent P . M ., W . Weston W . S . There was a numerous attendance of brethren , ladies , and friends . The now hall is commodious , in every respect suitable for such a purpose , and , as a dispensation had been granted , the brethren wore Masonic clothing , consequently the room presented an animated appearance , the elegant dresses of the ladies
forming a pleasing contrast . A very excellent supper was provided by Bro . Raven , of the Windsor Castle , Victoria Station . Three rooms were set apart for the supper arrangements . The usual toasts—the Queen , the W . M ., and the Ladies—were given and responded to . Dancing was then resumed to the strains of an excellent band provided by Bro . Seaton . Bro . Wan-, derers' Lodge , and Piper of the Scots Gnards , discoursed mosfc eloquentl y on tbe bagpipes , his accompaniment of the Highland Schofctische being especially r Hshed , Dancing was kept up with great spirit till early morn , ''"he result may be recorded as an eminent success , and all engaged in tbe management must be congratulated .
In reference to the North London Masonic Benevolent Ball , an account of which we gave last week , we omitted to mention that Mr . Dey , of 37 Offord Road , Barnsbury , kindly lent one of his upright vertical grand pianos for the occasion .

ON Wednesday a new Masonic Lodge for tho Province of Essex was consecrated at the contractors' offices on the works at the site of the New Tilbnry Docks . Tho ceremony was to have been performed by Lord Brooke , M . P ., the Grand Master of tho Province of Essex , but as his lordship had received the Prince of Wales ' s commands to be elsewhere , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master ,
Bro . F . A . Philbriek , Q . C , acted in his stead . In this duty he waa assisted by Bros . Clowes Prov . G . S . W . as Senior Warden , Sowman Prov . G . J . W . as Junior Warden , Rov . C . H . Roberts , of Chigwell , Prov . Grand Chaplain as Chaplain , Rolling Prov . Grand Secretary as Secretary , Lucking Prov . Grand D . C . as Director of Ceremonies ,
and T . F . Barrett Past Prov . Graud Registrar as Inner Guard . After the Lodge had been formally opened Bro . Philbriek explained the cause of the absence of Lord Brooke . Bro . the Rev . C . H . Roberts then delivered an oration , in which he stated the principles of Masonry , and said that the Institution was not a thing of word , bnt
a thing of the heart , and any one entering into it in a proper and true spirit must bo a better man in life . He then exhorted the brethren to show the outer world by their acts ancl deeds that Masonic secrets were brotherly love , relief , and truth . The ceremony of consecration was afterwards proceeded with and completed , and on the
presentation of Bro . James Lewis Thomas , Bro . Philbriek installed Bro . Donald S . Baynes as Master of the Lodge . The brethren invested as Officers of the Lodge were Bros . Manning Senior Warden , Dudgeon Junior Warden , Kirk Past Master 1328 Treasurer , Randall Secretary , Ross Senior Deacon , Porter Inner Guard , Hamilton Past
Master Director of Ceremonies , Rowe Tyler . A vote of thanks was afterwards accorded to the Consecrating Officer and those who assisted him , and they were all elected honorary members of the Lodge . A banquet , which was splendidly prepared and served , waa
subsequently partaken of at the New Falcon Hotel , Gravesend , and the usual Masonio toasts were proposed aud honoured , the heartiest congratulations on the formation of the Lodge and tho sinceresfc wishes for its success being expressed .
A large number of Craftsmen assembled at the Freemasons' Hall , on Thursday , under the banner of the Universal Lodge , No . 181 . Brother W . R . Norris was installed W . M . for the ensuing year by the outgoing Master Brother Thomas C . Fryer . A full report shall appear in our next issue .

THE Quarterly Meeting of this flourishing Mark Lodgo was held at the George Hotel , Colchester , on 10 th inst ., under the presidency of tho popular W . M ., Bro . J . P . Lewin , Prov . G . S . D . East Anglia . Four new members having been admitted , the annual election of W . M . for the ensuing year took place , when the brethren unanimously re-elected Bro . Lewin for a further term of twelve months . Bro . F .
A . Cole was re-elected Treasurer ; and Bro . Muuson Tyler . Eight new candidates having been proposed , it was decided to hold a Lodge of Emergency , previons to the next regular meeting . It was also arranged that the Secretary should communicate with the Provincial
Grand Secretary for East Anglia , with a view of inviting the E . W . P . G . M . to hold his firsfc Provincial Grand Lodge at Colchester , during the ensuing summer . After Lodge the brethren spent a pleasant hour in social intercourse .
