The Auditors' report , which showed the
Lodge to be in a prosperous condition , both numerically and financially , was adopted ; Brother H . T . Annifc signed arid received his Grand Lodge certificate ; and after the transaction of some minor business Lodge was closed in harmony nnd amidst tho interchange of the heartiest good wishes . Tho brethren subsequently
partook of a supper-banquet , nnder the presidency of the new Master , after which the nsnal Loyal and Masonic toasts were enthusiasticall y received . In proposing the Queen and the Craft , the W . M . spoke of the active interest that was always displayed in Freemasonry by tho various members of the Royal Familv , and alluded to the hononr
which had been paid to tho town of Northampton , aud especially the Masons of the Province , that day by the visit of Prince Albert Victor Senior Grand Warden . Happy reference to this event was made fr m time to time throughout tho evening ' s proceedings . The toast of the Most Worshipful Grand Master and of the-Grand Officer . Past and
Present was dnly honoured . Brother Butler Wilkins in r . sponding said the Grand Officers never failed in thoir dnty when their services wero required . Those who attended the Provincial Grand Lodge yesterday were essentially a type of what kind of men the Grand Officers were , and they were all prominent when there
was anything to be done for the welfare of the Craft . He particularly mentioned the lit . Hon . the Lord Mayor of London ( Brother Sir Reginald Hanson , Bart . ) , Bros . Colonel Shadwell H . the brethren on tbe preceding day . He concluded by congratulating the Province upon the steady advance in Freemasonry which had been manifested during recent yeara , their prosperous condit'on nt present , and a hope that this satisfactory state of affairs might lono * continue . Thnt gratifying result was due in a great measure to the
exertions of Bro . Butler Wilkins , Deputy Prov . Grand Master , and other good men and true , notably Bro . George Ellard , who had jnst been appointed Provincial Grand Senior Warden . With respect to the substantial way in which the brethren sustained the charnrteristics of the Province for Charity he might mention that at the
banquet which followed the installation of the Provincial Grand Master , the question of subscribing towards the funds of the Infirmary naturall y arose , and speedily the amount assumed dimensions that must have been highly gratifying to those who took part in it . When it became known that a sum of between £ 70 and £ 80 had been promised , a special effort was made by which the amount was

considerably increased , and the Prov . Grand Master waa proudly able to lay one hundred guineas on the memorial stone of tho Infirmary , as a Jubilee contribution from the Province of Norths and Hunts . He concluded by expressing his confidence that the brethren of the Province would heartily support their new Grand Master in
all his undertakings . In proposing the Worshipful Master , Brother Baseloy I . P . M . drew a simile , to the effect that as the now-born b : _ be was pressed more closely to the mother's breast , no doubt the new Worshipful Master would be closer to the hearts of the brethren than he should be , his lustre having become dimmed by retirement
from office . Brother Emery had entered upon his duties under the most auspicious circumstances , and he trusted that everything would go on smoothly during the year . Tho Worshipful Master in his reply said he was aware he hud to follow an able and active body of workers , and he entered upon hia duties
fully alive to tho responsibilities of bis position . He need hardly assure them he should endeavour to diso arge those duties zealously , and he hoped to their satisfaction . Bro . G . Butcher , in eulogistic terms , proposed the Installing Master and the Past Masters of the Eleanor Cross Lodge , to which Bro . Beasley briefly responded . Bro .
A . Jones gave the Masonio Charities , referiia > . to tho advantages conferred upon a helpless but deserving class by oar three splendid Institutions . They were universal in principle , unseotarian in character , and were eminently deserving of the large amounts subscribed towards their funds annually by the Cr ' ft . He also referred to the
good that was being done by local Charities , aud the generosity that had been evoked dnring the Jubilee year . Bros . Ellard and Cockerel ! bad been well supported in their Stewardships and had taken up substantial sums towards the Institutions . Bro . Cockerell acknowledged the toast , thanking the brethren for the support they had
accorded Bro . Ellard and himself in their Stewardships . The other toasts were tho Visiting Brethren , the Sister Lodges of the Province , and the Wardens and Officers of the Lodge , all of which were duly acknowledged .
