Bro . Hamp was thanked by the VV . M . and others for his attention . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts followed , the W . M .
making an exception of "The Queen and the Craft , " expatiating at length on her Majesty ' s long and happy reign , and the interest herself and Royal Family had shown in the welfare of the Craft , also the double pleasure he felt at presiding over the West Smithfield Lodge at the time of her Majesty ' s jubilee , and as an event to be ever remembered by him .
" God save the Queen " was sung very enthusiastically by all present . Thetoastof "The M . W . G . M . " also ' received a hearty welcome . The I . P . M . next proposed the toast of " The W . Chanties during the past year , paid all their debts , and had a good balance in hand to commence the present year with . He must say one great feature in the lodge was that they were all united in the great purposes of Freemasonry . As their Secretary , he would do the best he could to look after their accounts , and doubtless the Treasurer would look to their monies .
The Treasurer also added a few observations , stating if they would only keep him well in hand with cash , he would farm it to their liking . The Worshipful Master next proposed th * toast of " The Officers , " acknowledging them all equal to their appointments ; also demanding attendance and strict attention to their various duties , for , in his opinion , good officers
invariably tended to the prosperity of Masonic lodges . The toast having been duly honoured , Bro . Brickdale , S . W ., in reply , begged to thank the W . M . for proposing the toast , and the brethren for its reception . He felt sure the W . M . need have no fear that the officers would all be found at their posts , and discharge their duties to his satisfaction . For his own appointment he thanked him , and
would promise to do all in his power , as his S . W ., to discharge the duties annexed to his office . Bro . F . J . Rumball expressed himself in a similar manner , as did also several others .
