and East Yorks , Bro . the Earl of Zetland , and the W . D . P . G . M ., Bro . the Him . W . T . Orde-Powlett , " thanking the latter for his attendance that evening . The D . P . G . M . thanked the W . M . and brethren , congratulated them upon the working of the lodge , referred to the impressive manner in which the S . W . gave the charge , and proposed " The Health of the W . M . oi the Agricola Lodge . "
The VV . M . responded , and expressed a hope that one of the benefits to be derived from the general visit of the D . P . G . M . to the various lodges would be more uniformity of working throughout the province . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Provincial Grand Officers of North and East Yorkshire , Present and Past , " to which Bro . McGachen , P . G . A . D . C , humorously responded .
The Worshipful Master then proposed "The Officers of the Agricola Lodge , " and thanked them for their punctual and regular attendance , and careful attention to their respective offices . The toast was briefly replied to by the S . W . and J . W ., the latter , amidst the amusement of the brethren , apologising for the one instance of late attendance of himself and
J . D ., owing to their absence from the city upon a piscatorial expedition ; but expressing the hope that , as they reached the lodge in time for the ( to him ) congenial task of calling the " brethren from labour to refreshment , " but little inconvenience had been experienced through his temporary absence . Bro . B . Polkinghorne , I . P . M ., proposed " The Visitors , " and , on behalf of the W . M ., thanked them for their
presence . The toast was responded to by Bro . Brown , VV . M . 1611 . The Junior Warden next proposed "The Health of the Initiate , " and advised him to try to follow in the footsteps of the many good men that had already been initiated in the lodge , and , in congratulating him upon his admission , wished him long life and good health to enjoy the privileges
of the Craft , and hoped one day to see him holding high rank therein . Bro . Sutcliffe suitably responded , and the Tyler ' s toast brought a very pleasant evening to a close , the enjoyment of the brethren having been greatly promoted by the singing of several excellent songs and glees by Bros . A . Sample , P . G . O . ( who accompanied on the piano ) , J . E . Wilkinson , J . D . ; J . Wilson , I . G . ; and J . Sutcliffe .

M ., Treasurer , and Tyler of this lodge took place at the monthly lodge meeting , held at the Royal Hotel , on Saturday , the 20 th ult ., Hro . B . Stocks , W . M ., in the chair . Bro . VV . H . Cook , J . W ., was unanimously elected W . M ., Bro . VV . Fitton , " P . M ., Treasurer ,
and Bro . B . Denton , Tyler for the ensuing year . Mr . A . Gledhill was initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry , and expressed a desire to take the next Degree as soon as possible . The ceremony was performed by the W . M ., assisted by Bros . Cook , J . W ., and Fitton , P . M . The lodge was then closed , after which the brethren dined together , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given .

Appropriate speeches were made to the respective toasts , and we are pleased to learn that this well known lodge is doing most excellent work in the cause of Freemasonry .

Masonry before the year 1813 ) , was then closed in due and ancient form .
The companions then adjourned to the banquet rooms where the worth y hostess , Mrs . Green , had prepared a most excellent dinner , which was highly enjoyed by all . The following toasts were then given , " Her Majesty the Queen " being responded to by all present most loyally . "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Grand Z . of the Order , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " " R . W . Rro . Earl Amherst , Grand Supt . of Kent , and the
rest of the Prov . G . Officers , Present and Past , " and which were duly acknowledged hy the Prov . G . Officers present . The toast of "The Health of the M . E . Z . " was next proposed , and in responding the M . E . Z . thanked them for the honour they had again conferred on him . The usual toasts of the officers of the chapter were given and loyally responded to . The companions retired at an early hour after having spent a most enjoyable evening .

NORTH LONDON CHAPTER OF IMPROVEMENT ( No . 1471 ) . —This chapter held its annual convocation on Thursdav , the 3 jth ult ., at the Alwyn Castle Tavern , St . Paul ' s-road , Canonburv , when ihe ceremony of exaltation was abfy rehearsed by Comps . VV . H . Dean , P . P . G . R . Dorset , as M . E . Z . ; Wm . Radcliffe , H . ; and E . Lewis , Z . 1237 , J , Thc Audit Committee read thc financial statement for the year ending Nov . i 8 ih , 1886 , and expressed their entire satisfaction with regard to the healthy state of the funds , which were received and adopted . The election of the S . E . was then proceeded wilh , which resulted in the re-election of Comp . J . E . Sheffield when the
companions present proposed a cordi i \ vote of thanks to be recorded on the minutes to Comp . Sheffield for the correct and satisfactory manner he had kept the accounts for the past year . Comp . R . H . Halford was re-elected Treasurer for the coming year , unanimously trusting he would be spared many years to come to fill that position . The companions present tendered their sincere thanks to Comp . T . C . Edmonds , as Preceptor , for services rendered to the chapter in posting them all in the R . A , ritual in such a perfect manner , and a cordial vote of thanks was passed in his favour . Number of members on the books 160 . Number of chapters represented 69 . The Worshipful Master then proposed "The Officers of the Agricola Lodge , " and thanked them for their punctual and regular attendance , and careful attention to their respective offices .
