It was " The Queen and the Craft , " and he hoped that her Majesty would be spared for many years and have a
prosperous reign . The Worshipful Master in proposing the toast of " Thc M . VV . G . M . " said that they all knew Freemasonry was extending over the whole habitable parts of the globe , and that was owing a great deal to thc genial influence of their beloved Grand Master .
After the toast of " The Right Hon . the Earl of Carnar-X ? A , ? r 0 G > lM - ' •the K 'S ht Hon- the Ea-ri of Lathom , D . G . A 1 . ; and ; the Officers Present and Past of the Grand Lodge , " The Worshipful Master said that he need not dilate much upon the next toast , namely , "The R . W . Prov
Grand Alaster for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Bro VV . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., " for all the brethren knew his good qualities . He was a painstaking , hardworking brother , and the reception that the toast always received was a proof that his services were highly appreciated .
Ihe Worshipful Master proposed "The D . P . G . M Bro . VV . Hickman , P . G . A . D . C ., and the Officers of Prov ! Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " After referring to Bro . many many years to carry out his duties . The brethren were proud that Portsmouth again was honoured by the office . He welcomed Bro . Townsend as P . G . D . and also Bro . Hayman as P . G . Reg ., who , although last , was first in seniority . In referring to the Past Officers he felt glad to be able to look round and see Bro . G . F . into Alasonry . Bro . J . Ridd Hayman , P . G . Reg ., said that having been called upon to respond , he readily acquiesced , as he felt it incumbent to thank the brethren for their kind reception . Ho felt it an honour , and was proud to hold an office in the large and important provincis , and that feeling was shared by the whole of the officers in the province . As for Bro . Hickman , Dep . Prov . Grand Master , his name was as fami ' - liar to the brethren as household words . He was an able
Mason , and was most genial in all Masonic matters . He had lately taken unto himself a wife , and he wished him a great deal of happiness . He ( Bro . Hayman ) was Prov Grand Registrar . AI . s severance from his mother lod ge at Gosport , but the Gosport brethren ' s loss was the Carnarvon Lodge ' s gam . He congratulated Bro . Askew on his attaining " the highest and proudest positions to which Masons aspire . Bro . Kimber , l . P . AI ., said the next toast he was sure would be well received ; it was "The W . M . " For him to
enumerate the many good qualities of Bro . Askew would be superfluous as they were too well known . He was a good brother and a faithful Mason . During his term of office as S . VV . he had shown the lodge what he could do , and there can be no doubt that he would uphold the dignity of the lodge with a credit to himself and every one concerned . The W . M . thanked Bro . Kimber for his eulogistic terms towards him . He really thought that for the first time in his life he was modest , for he knew not what to say .

prosperous reign .
