BATH . —Royal Cumberland Lodge ( No . 41 ) . — On Thursday , the 3 rd inst ., was held one of tbe most brilliant ^ assemblages of Freemasons in connection with any individual lodge which has taken place in this city for a long time , probably owing to two causes , namely—first , the elevation of thc status and character of the lodge by the investigations and consequent discoveries as to its early history made during the past year , and the proceedings
connected therewith ; and , secondly , the deserved popularity of the brother who was to be installed as W . M . during the next year . As an acknowledgment , Bro . Dr . Hopkins had procured a 1 yler s breast jewel , which he handed to the W AI . requesting him to present it in his name . This was done with very appropriate remarks and the Tyler returned

AL and the Wardens , and having expressed his conviction that the brethren would like to hear the voice of the highly respected Bro . Ashley , the oldest P . M . of the lodge present , called upon him to give the closing address to them , with which he at once complied . Bro . T . Wilton from his chair , recounted thc eminent services rendered to
the lodge by the retiring W . AL , now the I . P . M , not only in the working of the ceremonies and conducting the ordinary business , but also b y the lectures he had delivered , by his hospitality , by the use of his pen , and by the eclat he had given to this old lodge in having brought his long experience , his Alasonic knowledge , and that of his distinguished friends to bear in unravelling the early history of the lodge 150 years ago , from which such imnortant results
had followed . He concluded by proposing a hearty vote of thanks to Bro . Dr . Hopkins for his conduct in the chair during thc past year . Bro . AV .
M . during the next year . during a trying year , when so many exceptional circumstances had occurred b y which his labour had been increased , and at the courtesy and willingness he had displayed when called upon for extra personal services to himself . As an acknowledgment , Bro . Dr . Hopkins had procured a 1 yler s breast jewel , which he handed to the W AI . requesting him to present it in his name . This was done with very appropriate remarks and the Tyler returned

the lodge by the retiring W . AL , now the I . P .
