Bro . Polydore De Keyser , the newly-elected Alderman of the Ward of Farringdon Without , in succession to Mr . J . Figgins , was born on December 13 th 1832 , at Fermonde , in Belgium . His father was Mr . C . De Keyser , the founder of the Royal Hotel . He has for fifteen years been a member of the Court of Common Council , is a Governor of Bridewell and Bethlehem Hospital and of St . Batholomew ' s Hospital , and a member ot the
Society of Arts and the Royal Geographical Society . Bro . De Keyser was educated in England , under the personal care of the later Mr . J . Roach , of the Rectory House , Parson's-grcen , Fulham , and late at Brussels and in Germany . I he new Alderman has taken a great interest in the Craft and in the Volunteer service , and his undoubted ability and g-enial courtesy will ensure for him a hearty welcome in the higher sphere of civic life to which he has been called .
