Edward Hughes , W . iVL , in the chair . The lodge was opened in the first degree , an I tho minutes of last lodge were rend and confirmed . The lodge was opened in tho second decree , and Bros . Coley and Wilson
were examined and entrusted . The lodge was then opened in the third degree , aud those brethren were eaoh raised to the sublime degree . ' 1 be lodgo was closed down to the second and < irst degrees , when the W 11 ., apologising for an oversight , ami unceil the ballot for Mr . ' 1 nomas Freelove , which was at once proceeded with and resulted unanimously in that gentleman ' s favour .

M ., proposed " That a sum of two pounds be given from the lodge funds to the Royal tlenevolent Institution for Aged Freeiinstms aud their Widows , and placed on Bro . Taylor ' s list . ' ' Bro . Brodey , P . M . and Trea .., seconded the motion which was carried nan . con . The W . M . then
begged the co-operation of 'be brethren to found a mutual subscription fund , to enable all the members who would enrol themselves to becouin Lifo Subscribers to one or other of tho Masonic Charities iu tho course of two years from the date of enrolment . The principle , the \ V M . expl . ined was to pay in , to a Treasurer to be elected , one shilling per week and when an amount of
five Guineas had accumulated , to ballot for a brother ' s name , and give him the choice of the charity connected with the Craft to which ho would desire to have tho subscription sent . It had only at present been casually brought before two of tho 1 ' a . st Masters and two other members , but having been well received , aud thought to be of benefit to the members , it waa uuw brought forward
for consideration Bro . Taylor , I'll , and U . S ., cordially supported the idea , and hoped all would give iu their names ; as the more numerous the eoriety , the sooner subscriptions would be at the service of the members , and iu addition to placing them on the lists of the charities , would also bring the lodge into a good position , and elevate its status iu the Craft . and Treasurer , was much pleased to see such a beneficial movement , and pledged himself to further the fund to the utmost of his ability . Bro . Sillifaut P . Warden of Suffolk ) was for a time iu a very satisfactory and flouii-bing state , but by thi removal of some of its best winking members and other circumstances it has not of late been so prosperous . S Adair , by whom it was constituted aud consecrated 13 th July following , when Bro . Newson Garrett , the first Worshipful Master , was installed into tho chair of 1 C . S . by Bro . 0 . T . Townseud , Prov S . G .
Warden of Suffolk ) was for a time iu a very satisfactory and flouii-bing state , but by thi removal of some of its best winking members and other circumstances it has not of late been so prosperous . the cause of a widow surrounded by ten children , whom the late Bro . Popkiu left unprovided aud penniless . The lodge voted the sum of £ t to relieve this unexampled destitution . The W .
