Z . —The members of the Lion and Lamb Chapter desire to express to you their sense of the valued services you have rendered to thc chapter , more especially during the two years you have
occupied the chair of M . E . Z . Your re-election forasecond year to that high office was a proof , if any were needed , of the esteem in which you are held by the companions , and they trust that after your retirement from the chair you will long continue to take an active interest in the welfare of the chapter . " The address was handsomely framed , and the work was altogether much admired . After the closing of the chapter , the companions adjourned to a banquet . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured .
BEADON CHAPTER ( No . 619 ) . —Tho installation convocation of this chapter took place on Thursday , the 13 th inst ., at thc Masons' Hall Tavern , Masons ' Avenue , Basinghall-strcct , and was numerously attended . Comps . Wyer , '/ .. ; IT . Thompson , IT . ; and F . Sharratt , J . Previously to the meeting of the chapter the annual audit of the accounts was held , anil it terminated with thc
knowledge that there was a very satisfactory balance in favour of the chapter . The P . Z . 's present were Comps . Coste , Seaman , Green , and Smeed , the latter being the Installing Officer , anel whicii duly he has most ably discharged for many years past . The whole of the companions below the Degree of an Installed First Principal having withdrawn , Comp . Thompson , who had been
unanimously elected M . E . Z . at the last convocation of the chapter , was presented by Comp . VV . IT . Green , P . Z . and S . E ., to fill the exalted office of M . E . Z . for the ensuing year , and was most impressively installed by Comp . VV . Smeed , and it was remarked by the companions who had the privilege of being present that never was that important ceremony more accurately , impressively , or beautifully
performed , and these remarks would equally apply to his rendering of the solemn rites in respect of the installation nf Comps . Sharratt and Dodman , respectively as H . and J . The rest of the companions having been re-admitted , the M . E . Z . proceeded to invest the officers of the chapter , viz ., Comps . Green , S . E . ; Dawes , S . N . ; Coste ( locumtemens for Comp . A . Avery ) , as Treas . ; Dr . Pridmore , as
S . E . ; and Bavin , as Janitor ; offering a few words of congratulation to each , but more particularly to Comp . Green , P . S ., whom he said he should always look up to with esteem and respect as his father in Royal Arch Masonry , and he hoped for many years to see him re-elected into the responsible position of S . E . of the Beadon Chapter . In investing Comp . Dr . Pridmore as P . S ., he impressed
upon him a knowledge of the important duties he had to perform , and without his ready and efficient assistance it vvas impossible that the business of the chapter could be properly performed . He then said that he had a most pleasing duty to perform , which was to present to Comp . Wyer , the I . P . Z ., on behalf of the companions , with a substantial mark of their regard , which was a jewel
unanimously voted to him at thc last chapter , and in placing it on his breast as a token of their good will , he trusted that he might be long blessed with health to wear it , and when he looked upon it he felt assured it would remind him of the high esteem and many happy hours he had spent in the Beadon Chapter . Comp . Wyer , in accepting the jewel
which had just been placed upon his breast , said he should always wear it with pleasure , and it had been his earnest desire to deserve it . Hc had served all the other offices , and anything that he could do to promote the jirosperity of the chapter would he to him a pleasure , and he should always be ready to do anything in his power to maintain

that good will that had always subsisted amongst them . The M . E . Z ., in investing Comp . Bavin as Janitor , said he had also for nianj' 3 * enrs held that office , and remarked that his duties were vcry responsible as regarded the admission of strangers amongst them , but he had for so many years carried on those duties to their entire satisfaction , that he needed no comment from him , and he hoped he would for many years fill that important post . The chapter was then
closed in the usual form , and the companions adjourned to the dining-hall for refreshment , where an excellent dinner was provided by Comp . Wood . The M . E . Z . said the first toast that was given in all assemblies was that of "The Queen , " and , as he had no desire to occupy the time of the companions by extolling her good qualities , he should without further comment give them " The ! Oueen and Royal Arch Masonry , " which was
responded to with hearty "fire . The M . E . Z . said the next toast he had to propose vvas that of " His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , Granel Z ., " and remarked that to say anything in his praise would be to " gild refined gold , " and , therefore , he asked the companions to join with him in rendering all homage to the toast he proposed , which request vvas most heartily responded to . The M . E . Z . said as he knew the companions were desirous of getting to their
homes as early as vvas consistent with their comfort , the next toast he had to propose would be a comprehensive one , as it vvas " The Pro Grand Z ., the Earl of Carnarvon ; the Grand H ., the Earl of Lathom ; and the Grand J ., Lord de Tabley ; " which vvas also well responded to . Comp . Wyer , I . P . Z ., rose and said he had thc privilege to propose the next toast , which vvas "The Health of the M . E . Z ., Comp . Thompson , " and remarked that he had great
pleasure in doing so , as he felt assured he would discharge the important office to which he had been appointed to their entire satiifaction . The toast vvas cordially received . Comp . Thompson , M . E . Z ., in reply , said he felt deepl y grateful to the companions for the exalted position in which , by their unanimous votes , he had been placed , and could assure them that he would do all in his power to perform the duties to their satisfaction , although he had been called to
it much sooner than he expected , and he feared he would inadequately follow the excellence of Comp . Wyer , who had preceded him ; and if they found shortcomings on his part , he must ask for their indulgence . This , however , he would say , that no effort on his part should be wanting to give them satisfaction , and if he failed it would not be from want of inclination , but of ability . The M . E . Z . said thc next toast hc had to propose was that of " The Past
Principals of the Chapter , Comps . Wyer , Green , Seaman , Coste , and Smeed , " who had all rendered good suit and service , and on this occasion wished particularly to refer to Comp . Smeed , the Installing P . Z ., and , in doing so , he hardly knew how to express his appreciation of the ability with which he had performed thc ceremonies of installing the Principals that evening , for nothing coulei be more impressive and beautiful than the manner in whicii it had
been gone through , and any commendation lie could utter would fall far short of what it deserved . It was to him a great pleasure , and , although somewhat of an old Mason , he hael never been so thoroughly impressed with any ceremony he had before witnessed , and it vvas one of which he should always retain a lively remembrance . Comps . Coste , Wyer , Green , and Seaman briefly returned thanks for the flattering terms in which the M . E . Z . had spoken of them ,
and Comp . Smeed also acknowledged the compliment that had been paid to him , at the same time stating that at any time any services he could render werc always at the command of thc chapter . At this period of the evening , Comp . John Foulger , P . Z . of the Domatic Chapter , entered the room , and the M . E . Z . saiel he would take the liberty of interposing a toast lhat was not included in the programme , for he found that he was that night honoured by the
presence of a very old friend , who was with him a member of the Domatic Lodge , and it vvas an unexpected pleasure to find him present on the night of his installation into the chair of First Principal of the Royal Arch . He gave him a hearty welcome , and would ask the companions to join him in drinking " The Health of Comp . John Foulger , P . Z . of the Domatic Chapter . " The toast was most cordially received , and Comp . Foulger expressed the satisfaction and
pleasure hc felt in being jiresent on thc occasion of Comp . Thompson ' s installation , and spoke of the pleasing recollections it brought of time past , long ago , when they were members of the Domatic Lodge . The M . E . Z . said the next toast he had to propose was a very important one , as it was " The Health of Comps . Sharratt and Dodman , the Principals IT . and J ., " and he said he had no doubt that thev would well elischarcre their duties , and in due time
arrive at the high position hc then occupied . Comps . Sharratt and Dodman respectively returned thanks , expressing tlieir determination to maintain the reputation oi" the chapter . The next toast was "The Health of Comps . Green and Dawes , S . E . and S . N ., " and , in proposing it , the M . E . Z . said that Comp . Green was a most worthy and painstaking officer , by whom he had been exalted into Royal Arch Masonry , and for whom he should always
entertain thc most sincere respect ; and he believed that Comp . Dawes would prove a most efficient officer as S . N . Comps . Green and Dawes respectively returned thanks for this appreciation of their services , and expressed a determination to merit the good opinion of the companions . In giving the next toast— "The Treasurer "—the M . E . Z . said that Comp . A . Avery vvas one of his oldest friends in Freemasonry , and he deeply regretted that , he was absent
from them that evening , and more especially so as he understood that it vvas illness that kept him from them , but he trusted it would be but temporary . He proposed as a toast" Better Health to Comp . Avery , " with t le best wishes of every member of the chapter . The toast was heartily responded to , and Comp . Coste undertook to carry what
had been done to Comp . Avery , and he was sure that he would be gratified in knowing that he had not been forgotten in his absence . Some other toasts were given , and the Janitor ' s toast brought a happy meeting to a close . Several songs were sung during the evening , and complete harmony and good fellowship prevailed .

MANCHESTER . —QUEEN'S THEATRE . —We are pleased to record another successful pantomime produced at this popular theatre under thc able managership of Bro . C . J . Emerson , entitled " Jack the Giant Killer , " and which has been written by Mr . J . T . Denny . It will be quite unnecessary for us to enter into details of the plot , which is so well known , but will content ourselves by remarking that
the usual rollicking fun is once more to be found here , and this added to some excellent scenery , painted by Messrs . Young and Edwards , together with some apropos music by the indefatigablcmusical director , Mr . Edward Williams , makes a most seasonable and enjoyable compound that is highly appreciated and relished by the numerous audiences , who have assembled at every morning and evening
performance since Christmas Eve . T o our thinking , a large amount of this enjoyment is attributable to those painstaking and mirth-piovoking comedians , Messrs . Joseph Bracewcll and Charles Stevens , who both work arduously to create the peals of laughter which reward their effoiis . The latter gentleman especially has a considerable share of work , and nothing funnier than the scene where he
appears with his gouty foot supported by bands , and himself by crutches , vvhen relating the torture he has undergone for some long period , has been seen on the stage , and it would be next to impossible for the most cynical observer to restrain his mirth when witnessing his apparent excruciating agonies on being knocked down by tbe impetuosity of his page , Billy Lackadaisy , Bro . Joseph Bracewcll , and
finally his entire forgetfulness of pain , gout , crutches , and everything but the still more agonising fact that his wife , vvho is an awful tartar , has returned home . Mr . J . K . Walton made a capital Giant Cormoran , whilst Mr . Tom Lisbourne entered thoroughly into the spirit of the termigant wife of King Kollywoblelums , who is described as having an Irish tongue of her own , which she used
pretty freely upon her unfortunate spouse . Of the ladies , a very high meed of praise must be awarded to Miss Carina Clelland , who took the part of the Princess Fredegonde , for her fine singing , notably " Semprc librera , " from " Traviata , '' and the Carnival de Venisc with variations . 'The hero , Jack , was charmingly depicted by Miss Grace
Huntley , whose spnghthness and vivacity were quite refreshing to witness . Altogether , the earnest desire of all the artists engaged to do their utmost for thc success of the pantomime was unmistakeably manifested , and we cordially congratulate the courteous manager , Bro . Emerson , on the reward which his energetic efforts have brought about . MANCHESTER . —THEATRE ROYAL . —Thc pantomime , entitled " Blue Beard , " has been running at this
