Tyler . Bro . Fillan commenced his duties as W . M . by at once initiating a candidate into the mysteries of the Craft , and the perfect manner in svhich the ceremony svas performed must have caused the members of the lodge to congratulate themselves in having so able a brother at tlieir head .
After the lodge had been closed , the brethren , numbering about 40 , sat dosvn to a very enjoyable banquet , and this having been concluded the W . M . gave the usual Masonic toasts . Some humorous songs from Bro . H . P . Mathesvs and an excellent recitation from the W . M . enhanced the pleasures of the evening .
CREATON LODGE ( No . 1791 ) . —This lodge held its last meeting of the session on Thursday , the 12 th inst ., and , for the first time since its consecration , the summons ss'as devoid of business , excepting the usual formalities . On the completion of the lodge business , svhich included reading a dispensation from the Grand Master authorising the brethren to svear their Masonic clothing and Jjesvels at the banquet to svhich the ladies had been invited , according to annual custom , the brethren retired to the Holborn Restaurant , svhere a goodly number of the fair sex svas asvaiting them . They then proceeded to the Queen's Saloon ,
svhere a most sumptuous repast svas served . The banquet being finished and grace sung , The VVorshipfuI Master gave for the first toast " The Health of the Queen , " svhich was follosved by that of " His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M . ; the Princess of VVales , and the rest of the Royal Family ; " in proposing svhich the W . M . dilated upon the excellences
ot the Grand Master as a brother , Prince , and Mason ; hosv efficient he svas in his svorking , having just given a specimen of his ability in the initiation of his osvn son into the Order , His svife , he svas sure , svas beloved by every one , but more especially by Masons . They were nosv about to undertake a very serious journey ; but he felt sure they would be most loyally received in Ireland , and he asked all
present to join him in drink : ng to their health , and wishing them a safe return . The next toast given svas that of " The Masonic Charities , " svhich it svas expected Bro . Binckes svould have been present to have replied to ; but , osving to the centenary at Derby occurring on the same day , he svas obliged to be there . In his absence , Bro . Cantle , P . M ., responded ,
explaining hosv much good svas done by the various Institution , how much the Creaton Lodge had done for them , and he svas sure that nosv Bro . Williams , I . P . M ., svas about to represent the lodge as Stesvard for the Festival of the Boys , they svould not desert him ; and he particularly asked the ladies to give their husbands no peace until they had made them Life Subscribers of the different Charities .
The Worshipful Master then gave the toast of " The Ladies , " saying hosv pleased he svas to see so many smiling faces around him , and be able to perpetuate svhat had become an established custom of the lodge , and have a ladies' night during his year of office . He alsvays apprec iated the society of the ladies , and quite agreed svith the Scotch poet ,

" ¦ t svas usual to select a single man to respond to thc toast ° f the ladies ; but in this instance he should deviate from that course , knosving svhat aladies' man Bro . Capt . Helden Was , and ask him to reply . Bro . Helden replied to this toast in a svell chosen
humorous speech , and concluded by saying the ladies bad enjoyed themselves very much , and svould like to be inyited again . Bro . Gen . VV . W . Anderson then proposed "The jealth of the W . M . and Success to the Creaton Lodge . " He had seen the svorking of many lodges , but had not seen any svhere W . M . 's svho carried out their duties equal to
mose of this lodge , and he svas pleased to say the present one svas no exception to the rule . It gave him great Uel [ fflit to be in the company of the members of the lodge , and he hoped for years they might meet in harmony . Ihe W . M ., in reply , thanked the ladies and brethren 'or the kind manner in which they had been pleased to receive the remarks of Bro . Anderson ; it had been " is desire to be W . He svas very much obliged to the brethren for their appreciation of his services , and his endeavour svould be to continue to deserve their good svishes . He then proposed "The Health of the P . M . 's , " expressing his regret at the absence of some of them , but svas sure it must be something pressing that kept them asvay . Tbey svere of valuable assistance to him , and
he hoped they svould have health and strength to be svith the lodge for many years . With thc toast he coupled the name of Bro . Williams , I . P . M . In responding to this toast , Bro . Williams thanked them for their good svishes , and also personally thanked the brethren for the donations they had been pleased to place upon his list as Stesvard . Bro . Neilson , P . M ., spoke a fesv ' . svords , causing some
laughter by his remarks . The . VV . M . then gave "The Treasurer , Secretary , and Ollicers of the Lodge . " His officers he considered excellent . The Treasurer svas second to none , and the Secretary the best any lodge ever had . Bro . Cantle svas never happy unless he svas doing something for the good of the lodge . Their meeting that night svas entirely in his hands , he having arranged everything , even to the menu and
programmes . With this toast he associated the names of IBros . P . M . Cantle and Rogers . Bro . Cantle replied by thanking the VV . M . for saying so many good things of him , and although he felt he scarcely deserved them nosv , he svould endeavour to do so in the future—his great aim svas the success of the lodge and the happiness of the brethren . He svas pleased to
again meet the ladies , and hoped he should do so for many years , and remain their obedient servant , the Secretary . Bro . Rogers follosved svith a fesv remarks , and thanks for himself and remainder of the officers . A most successful evening svas then brought to a close . An excellent programme of music svas rendered during the evening by Miss Matilda Roby , Bros . James Kift , Arthur Thomas , and J I . Cantle .
SELWYN LODGE ( No . 1901 ) . —The annual installation meeting of this very prosperous lodge svas held at the East Dulsvich Hotel , on Thursday , the 16 th inst . A numerous assemblage of officers and brethren svere present , svhen the lodge svas opened in due form . The minutes of the previous meeting svere read and confirmed , svhen at the re-quest of theW . M ., Bro . Burnett , Bro . Bellis , P . M ., occupied the chair , and the ceremonies of passing Bro .
Hobbs and raising Bro . Briant svere performed b y him svith his usual svell-knosvn ability The Auditors next gave their report , svhich shosved the lodge to be in eminently satisfactory condition , svhich report svas unanimously received and adopted . An opening ode , " Hail , Eternal , " svas then sung by the brethren , and Bro . A . R . W , Posvles svas duly presented to the VV . M . for the benefit of installation . A Board of
Installed Masters svas then constituted . Bro . Posvles svas duly installed into the chair of K . S . The brethren then saluted the nesvly-installed Master svith the customary honours . The VV . The brethren and visitors , numbering about 70 , sat dosvn to an excellent banquet , under the presidency of the VV . AI ..
at the conclusion of svhich , grace— " Non Nobis Domine " —was sung , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts proceeded svith . The first toast — "Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen " —svas responded to in that earnest manner knosvn to the Order , the National Anthem being sung by Bro , Pitman and chorus .
The toast of " H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Al . VV . Grand Master , " svas next given , the W . M . alluding to the proof of the personal interest the Prince took in the Craft by initiating his osvn son into the mysteries . This svas responded to svith musical honours . The toast of " The Al . VV . Pro Grand Master , the Earl of Carnarvon ; the Deputy Grand Alaster , and the rest of the Grand Officers , " svas also svell received , and follosved
by a part song , " Evening . " The next toast— " The Worshipful Master "—was received svith enthusiasm , and very suitably acknosvledged , the VV . M . assuring thc brethren that nothing svould be svanting on his part to ensure a proper discharge of the duties entrusted to him . The Worshipful Master then proposed " The Health of the Installing Master and Past Alasters , " and , in referring
to the able manner in svhich his predecessor , Bro . Burnett , had fulfilled his year of office , took the opportunity of presenting him , in the name of the lodge , svith a handsome Past Master ' s jesvel and also a Past Master ' s collar and jesvel , manufactured by Bro . George Kenning . After a duet , by Bros . Wallis and Simons , " The moon has raised her lamp , " Bro . Burnett , P . M ., rose and expressed his thanks for
the very valuable present svhich had been made to him . He had endeavoured to discharge his duties faithfully , and the consciousness of this made him fully appreciate the handsome testimonial , He svould never forget the year of grace 1 SS 5 . Bro . Stock , P . M ., said he svas proud as a mover in obtaining the svarrant for the lodge , and also of being a
founder . He had faith from the first of the success that had been achieved by the lodge , and he had no doubt of its becoming one of the best lodges on the south side of the Thames . Bro . Bellis , P . M ., said that he had svorked svith equal interest in founding this lodge , and although his name did not appear on the warrant , and hc did not possess the

founder ' s jesvel , he had a jewel in his heart , viz ., that of the interest of the brethren . The toast of "The Visitors , " accompanying "The Masonic Charities , " svas well received . Bro . approached £ 200 , a service never to be forgotten ; also for their other gifts to Charities , and said the foundation the lodge had laid gave him thc surest hope for the future of their success .
