Knyvett consented to act as Assistant during thc year . Before the lodge was closed a unanimous vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Monckton for the able manner in which he had performed the ceremony . About 50 brethren sat down to the banquet , which was well served in the Globe ruom . The music was under the direction of Bro . Marchant .
LODGE OF ANTIQUITY ( No . 2 ) .-Ttus ancient lodge met on Wednesday evening last for its monthly assembly . Bro . Lasseter was raised to the . Sublime Degree cf Master Mason , according to the ancient and peculiar woiking of No . 2 , by Bro . W . Hope , D . M . H . R . H . Prince Leopold was unanimously re-elected as W . M ., and Bro . Parker Deacon , S . W ., vvas unanimously recommended to
the W . M . as D . M . Bro . Col . Creaton , G . T ., was unanimously re-elected Treasurer of the lodge . The sum of £ 10 ios . 'vas voted to the Duchess of Marlborough ' s Fund , to be sent through the Lord Mayor of London ; and the sum of £ 3 5 s . was placed on Bro . Tayart ' s list . After a good deal of routine business the lodge aeljourned to a Vltasant and most agreeable banquet , marked by that
harmony and heaitiness which always characterised Old Amiquity . " Among the brethren present were Past Masters Bros . Col . Stewart , Col . Creaton , G . T ., W . Fraser Rae , Sampson Pierce , E . , Among the visitors were Bros . Dr . Robbins , Dr . Richardson , Hurnell , and Stewart , jut :., as the son of its oldest Past Master , was warmly welcomed by the brethren of the Loel ge of Amiquity . After several excellent speeches , and a most cnjoyaole evening , the brethren separated at an l'arly hour .
PROSPERITY LODGE ( No . 65 ) . —A regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Guildhall Tavern , E-C , on Thursday , the 22 nd inst . The W . M ., Bro . Chas . Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
Mr . William Walker and Mr . James Stafford were then balloted for , approved , and initiated . The sum of fifteen guineas was voted to a worthy Past Master whose circumstances hael recently been greatly impaired by unforeseen losses . Two guineas vvere voted to an applicant , whose claims were thoroughly investigated and certified , and one guinea was given on account of the entertainment of the
inmates of the Masonic Benevolent Institution . Support was also accorded to the W . M ., Bro . Daniel , in aid of his forthcoming Stewardship for that Institution . The lodge vvas then closed , and the brethren subsequently spent a genial hour or two in the social and informal intercourse of an " off night . " Over a " grog and cigar " proceedings connected with Masonry in general and the Prosperity
Lodge in particular were freely and pleasantly discussed ; and all present , members and visitors alike , were gratified by the information afforded , and , above all , by the proof which had been given that the sacred cause of charity had been so freely supported through non-expenditure , on this and former occasions , on the pleasures of the table . The Prosperity Lodge is following a good example now
advocated by other lodges ; and it is agreeable to not ' ee that it does rot require the announcement of a banquet to draw visitors in goodly numbers to take part in Masonic work . May such self-sacrifice long continue here and elsewhere , and then the second of our grand principles will be so developed is to bring on those who practise it the testimony of a good conscience and its accompanying blessing—prosperity !
LODGE OF TEMPERANCE ( No . 169 ) . —On Thursday , the 15 th inst ., was celebrated at the White Swan Hotel , High Street , D . ptford , the installation meeting of this successful lodge , when Bro . William Predam , the S . W ., vvas duly conducted into the W . M . chair , the ceremony being marked with that excellence which has always characterised the weirkings of Bro . Moo . e , the
W . M ., during his tenure of office , and eliciting at its conclusion the hearty approbation , not only of the P . M . ' s present , but alsoef the visitors and members , who bore testimony to the same by passing a unanimous vote of thanks to Bro . Moure , and the W . M . subsequently presented him with a P . M . 's jewel , which had been voter ! at the previous meeting of the lodge . The following brethren

a sum of twenty guineas was voted from the lodge funds to head his subscription list , which , during the evening , received some good and substantial additions . After the labour of the evening had been brought to a close in the accu .-tomeel manner observeel amongst Masons , the brethren adjourned to the banquet , provided by Bro . Frederick
Morgan , the zealous and obliging host , a banquet vvhich cannot be adequately described by words , but which was borne full and ample testimony to by the brethren . The visitors present were Bros . Henry Bir . iseye informed the brethren that Bro . Muggeridge , the Secretary , was laid up with gout , and Bro . Myers , the Treasurer , with bronchitis . Mr . W . G . Shapley was duly initiated . Bro . A . C . Cope , S . W ., was unanimously elected W . M ., and Bro . Myers , Treasurer . Proposed by Bro . H . Birdseye , P . M ., seconded by Bro . Crossfield , P . M ., and carried unanimously , that the usual gold
j ; wel be presented to Bro . Edward Phillips , the W . M , on his retiring frjm office . Bro . H . Birdseye , P . M ., by request , read the following statement from Bro . Muggeridge , the Hon . S . cretary . " W . Master and Brethren , —I wish to make a communication to the lodge which I know you will be sorry to receive , and whie-h I feel some regret in making , hut I do so now that you may not be put to
inconvenience at the last moment . I have acted as and done thc work of Secretary of the Panmure Lodge since it has been in existence , above twenty-three years , and as I am rapidly approaching the age of three score years and ten , I wish to relieve n . yself from the trouble and responsibility of office , and also to a considerable extent separate myself from the things of time . I have , therefore ,
determined to itccline being re-appointei Secretary to this lodge , and I have not done so from any sudden whim or caprice , for I came to this determination six months ago ; nor is it friim any pique with any of the members , for I am happy to say that I am on the most friendly terms with all of them . I therefore suggest that you consult each ether as to who shall succeed me in that important
ofiice , and I venture to re .-ommend that you select a Past Master . " The W . M . expressed his regret at hearing the determination of Bro . MuggerWge to resign the Secretaryship , and requested that it might he recorded on the minutes , that it was thc unanimous feeling of the members of the lodge , that the announcement of thc loss of his services as Secretary were received with much regret , but
they trusted he might be spared for some years yet to be amongst them as a member of the lodge . Bro . Henry Birdseye , P . M ., gave notice that he intended to propose at the next meeting that Bro . Henry Muggeridge be elected an honorary member of the Panmure Lodge . Great regret was expressed by the brethren at thc absence of Bros . Myers and Muggeridge .

CITY OF LONDON LODGE ( No . 901 ) . — The members of this lodge held their annual installation at the Guildhall Tavern on the 19 th inst . The lodge having been opened with the usual formalities by the W . M ., Bro . Rubardt , he vacated the chair , and duly installed the W . M . elect , Bro . Ginger , who was presented by Bro . Lawrence . The ceremony was most efficiently
performed , and , for the first time , with musical accompaniments , the passages being most impressively rendered by Bro . Stacey , P . P . G . S ., 289 , who kindly volunteered to prcsiele at the harmonium . The W . M . then appointed the following brethren as bis officers fcr the ensuing year : — Bros . C . Beaumont , S . W " . ; E . V . proposed that a jewel , of the value of five guineas , be presented to the late Secretary , Bro . Wm . Alder ( who , he regretted to say , had been compelled to relinguish his duties , owing to ill-health ) , in recognition of his services , and the proposition having been seconded by Bro . H . D'Arcy , P . M ., was carried unanimousl y . Owing to the heavy business of the lodge , the presentation of the fine harmonium ,
which had been subscribed for by the officers , was postponed until the next meeting . The namesof several candidates for initiation at the next meeting were then handed in , and the lodge was closed in due form . The brethren then adjourned to a sumptuous banquet , the attendance being very much greater than on any other festive occasion . The usual loyal an I Masonic toasts were given from the chair , and
heartily received . The VV . M ., in proposing " The Visitors , " said that with so many distinguished visiting brethren present it would be invidious to particularise , but he could not omit thanking Bro . Stacey , P . P . G . S ., 289 , for so kindly inaugurating the musical ceremony , and also Bro . Baker , P . M . 753 , fcr his valuable services and assistance in the ritual ; last , but not least , he was pleased to
see present Bro . C . Lucop , 1326 , the deputy Preceptor of the City of London " Lodge of Instruction , and who so ably seconded Bro . H . D'Arcy , the efficient Pr .-ceptor of that successful lodge of instruction . "The Initiates" toast was given and responded to . The W . M ., in proposing " The Health of the I . P . M ., " expressed a hope that he would have as successful and eventful a year as his predecessor , the retiring W . M ., Bro . Rubardt ,
who had so efficiently discharged his duties . In proposing the toast of " The Past Masters , " the W . M . expressed his pleasure at seeing again his old friend and veteran Mason , Bro . Osmond , who , eighteen years ago , filled the chair he had now the honour to occupy . The proceedings were enlivened by the vocal abilities of Bros . Harris , Hand , Morris , and others . The usual concluding toasts having been given the brethren separated , having spent a most enjoyable evening .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
Mr . William Walker and Mr . James Stafford were then balloted for , approved , and initiated . The sum of fifteen guineas was voted to a worthy Past Master whose circumstances hael recently been greatly impaired by unforeseen losses . Two guineas vvere voted to an applicant , whose claims were thoroughly investigated and certified , and one guinea was given on account of the entertainment of the
inmates of the Masonic Benevolent Institution . Support was also accorded to the W . M ., Bro . Daniel , in aid of his forthcoming Stewardship for that Institution . The lodge vvas then closed , and the brethren subsequently spent a genial hour or two in the social and informal intercourse of an " off night . " Over a " grog and cigar " proceedings connected with Masonry in general and the Prosperity
Lodge in particular were freely and pleasantly discussed ; and all present , members and visitors alike , were gratified by the information afforded , and , above all , by the proof which had been given that the sacred cause of charity had been so freely supported through non-expenditure , on this and former occasions , on the pleasures of the table . The Prosperity Lodge is following a good example now
advocated by other lodges ; and it is agreeable to not ' ee that it does rot require the announcement of a banquet to draw visitors in goodly numbers to take part in Masonic work . May such self-sacrifice long continue here and elsewhere , and then the second of our grand principles will be so developed is to bring on those who practise it the testimony of a good conscience and its accompanying blessing—prosperity !
LODGE OF TEMPERANCE ( No . 169 ) . —On Thursday , the 15 th inst ., was celebrated at the White Swan Hotel , High Street , D . ptford , the installation meeting of this successful lodge , when Bro . William Predam , the S . W ., vvas duly conducted into the W . M . chair , the ceremony being marked with that excellence which has always characterised the weirkings of Bro . Moo . e , the
W . M ., during his tenure of office , and eliciting at its conclusion the hearty approbation , not only of the P . M . ' s present , but alsoef the visitors and members , who bore testimony to the same by passing a unanimous vote of thanks to Bro . Moure , and the W . M . subsequently presented him with a P . M . 's jewel , which had been voter ! at the previous meeting of the lodge . The following brethren

Master and Brethren , —I wish to make a communication to the lodge which I know you will be sorry to receive , and whie-h I feel some regret in making , hut I do so now that you may not be put to
inconvenience at the last moment . I have acted as and done thc work of Secretary of the Panmure Lodge since it has been in existence , above twenty-three years , and as I am rapidly approaching the age of three score years and ten , I wish to relieve n . yself from the trouble and responsibility of office , and also to a considerable extent separate myself from the things of time . I have , therefore ,
determined to itccline being re-appointei Secretary to this lodge , and I have not done so from any sudden whim or caprice , for I came to this determination six months ago ; nor is it friim any pique with any of the members , for I am happy to say that I am on the most friendly terms with all of them . I therefore suggest that you consult each ether as to who shall succeed me in that important
ofiice , and I venture to re .-ommend that you select a Past Master . " The W . M . expressed his regret at hearing the determination of Bro . MuggerWge to resign the Secretaryship , and requested that it might he recorded on the minutes , that it was thc unanimous feeling of the members of the lodge , that the announcement of thc loss of his services as Secretary were received with much regret , but
they trusted he might be spared for some years yet to be amongst them as a member of the lodge . Bro . Henry Birdseye , P . M ., gave notice that he intended to propose at the next meeting that Bro .
