Indeed , there was scarcel y a Prov , G . Lodge which had a fourth of the number of lod ges within its jurisdiction . The P . G . Lodge of Glasgow ivas tor years the only P . G . Lodge in Scotland , and other P . G . Lod ges had taken it as their model . Bro . Barrow then proposed

Bro . Baird , iu proposing " Lodge St . Mark , 102 , " observed that it occtrpieil a high , position in the province , and that its prosperity still continued . E . W . M . Halket , in the course of an excellent address in reply . ,
said that considerable progress had been made during the past year ; but there had been a better sign of progress than a mere addition to their numbers . An earnest desire had been miu . i ~ tested by the office-bearers tj render the working of tbs Lodge as perfect and complete as possible . Several Lodges of Instruction had been held , ivith satisfactory results , aud music suitable for the ceremonial had been practised , and a selection made and approved by tbe Lodge . They had also several lectures on
thehistory and principles of the Order . It was thought by many that the success of the Lodge depended altogether upon the office-bearers . This , however , was a mistake ; fur while it "ATIAS . the duty of the office-bearers to conduct the business of the Lodge and perform the ceremonies of tbe order in a proper and . becoming manner , it ivas the special duty of every member le . give a practical manifestation of the power ' of those principles by Avhich they Avere united .
