49 AN OLD GRAND LODGE CERTIFICATE . I have been favoured by Bro . H . A . E . de Pinna , J . W . of the Saye and Sele Lodge , No . 1973 , with a sight of his grandfather's Grand Lodge Certificate , and as 1 believe it to be the oldest 1 have ever met with , as it is by far the most perfect , being apparently almost as fresh and clean as when it was delivered to his ancestor , a description of
it may not be without interest to your Antiquarian rreaders , especially as I believe it to be an excellent specimen of the first kind of certificates issued by the G . Lodge " Moderns " of England . On the upper part is a flying winged figure , probably intended for a Herald , with a trumpet to its lips , and holdinsr a wand extended to the Seal of Grand Lodire .

49 AN OLD GRAND LODGE CERTIFICATE . I have been favoured by Bro . H . A . E . de Pinna , J . W . of the Saye and Sele Lodge , No . 1973 , with a sight of his grandfather's Grand Lodge Certificate , and as 1 believe it to be the oldest 1 have ever met with , as it is by far the most perfect , being apparently almost as fresh and clean as when it was delivered to his ancestor , a description of
it may not be without interest to your Antiquarian rreaders , especially as I believe it to be an excellent specimen of the first kind of certificates issued by the G . Lodge " Moderns " of England . On the upper part is a flying winged figure , probably intended for a Herald , with a trumpet to its lips , and holdinsr a wand extended to the Seal of Grand Lodire .
