With reference to the petition for a chapter to be attached to the Aldershot Camp Lodge , No . i ? - . ! ,
Aidershot , the consideration of which was defcrreel at the last Quarterly Convocation of Grand Chapter , the Committee have to report that the Grand Superintendent for the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight , having since withdrawn his recommendation to thc petition , tbey do not now feel themselves justified in recommending that the prayer . of the petition be granted , but leave the matter
in the hands of the Grand Chapter . The Committee have also to report that a compla'nt was preferred by Comp . Edward Jacobs , of the Ebury Chapter , No . 1348 , London , against Comp . John Palmer , P . Z . and Treasurer of the chapter , for having on two occasions ( on the latter while presiding as the acting M . E . Z . ) used his influence to prevent tho election of Comp .

THE LANCASTER MASONIC CALENDAR FOR 1880 . These local Masonic Calendars are very useful to the brethren , and Bro . J . D . Moore has done good service" to the brotherhood by issuing for a seventh year his compact pocket calendar .
We regret to announce the death of Bro . James Coward , so many years organist of the Crystal Palace . He expired on Thursday , the 22 nd inst ., after a long illness . On Wednesday week , the 2 ist inst ., Miss Helen Hopekirk gave a most successful pianoforte recital
in the Freemasons' Hall , Edinburgh , before a large audience . The programme was judiciously varied , and was certainly well contrived to test Miss Hopekirk ' s powers in the interpretation of representative music of all the principal schools , the accomplished lady playing with entire precision , her phrasing being trueand finished .
The eighth annual ball in aid of the Masonic Charities at Barrow-in-Furness , will take place on the 5 th February . We trust it may prove as great a success as on
previous years . HOLLOWAY ' OrNTiiENT AND PILLS . — 'Rheumatism anel rheumatic gout are the most dreaded of all diseases , because llieir victims know that they a'e safe at no season , anel at no ages secure . Holloway ' s Ointment , after fomentation ot the painful parts , gives greater relief than any other application ; but it must be diligently used to obtain this desirable result . It has been
highly commended h y rheumatic subjects of all ages and of both sexes for rendering their attack less frequent ani less vigourous , and for repressing the soar perspirations , and soothing the nerves . In many cases Holloway's Ointment and Pills have proved the greatest blessings in removing rheumatism and rheumatic gout which had assailed persons previously and at thc prime of life . — [ AnviJ

We trust it may prove as great a success as on
previous years . highly commended h y rheumatic subjects of all ages and of both sexes for rendering their attack less frequent ani less vigourous , and for repressing the soar perspirations , and soothing the nerves . In many cases Holloway's Ointment and Pills have proved the greatest blessings in removing rheumatism and rheumatic gout which had assailed persons previously and at thc prime of life . — [ AnviJ
