Hallam , P . M ., No . 614 , and P . Prov . G-. S . W ., as W . M . for the ensuing year . More than usual interest was excited from the fact of its being known that the Bight Worshipful Provincial Grand Master for Staffordshire , Colonel Ternon , would attend . The Lodge was opened at three o ' clock by Bro . Dilworth , - W . M . and P . Prov . G . P ., and immediately afterwards the B . W . Prov . G . M . was admitted , and received with the usual honours . He was accompanied by his Deputy , Bro . Thos . Ward , of this Lodge . On the entrance of the R . W . Brother , he was presented with the gavel , and took the chair until the minutes of the last
Lodge were read , which he confirmed . The W . M . again took the chair , and proceeded to put the necessary questions to a Brother , previous to his being passed to the degree of a F . C ., which proving satisfactory , the Brother was duly passed . The B . W . B . Brov . G . M ., Bro . Ward , then proceeded to install Bro . Hallam as W . M . for the ensuing year . The ceremony was most beautifully and efficiently performed . The new-elected W . M ., who is also Treasurer to the Lodge , next appointed the following Officers , who were duly invested with their respective badges ; viz ., Bros . S . M . Turner , B . M ., as S . W . ; J . Knight , J / W . ; E .
Turner , Sec ; W . M . Thomas , S . D . ; B . Cook , J . D . ; J . E . Winzer , I . G . ; Swan , DC ; and H . Baggaley , T . The R . W . Prov . G . M . then delivered a truly Masonic charge to the Brethren , which was listened to with much attention ; and he shortly afterwards addressed the Lodge at some length , expressing the pleasure he had in witnessing the great improvement that had taken place in the working of the Lodge since he last paid them a visit . He attributed this in a great measure to the late W . M . Bro . Dilworth ' s exertions , although , no doubt , he had been ably assisted by the Officers and the Brethren
generally . The choice they had that day made in the appointment of their W . M . for the year ensuing , was a most happy one ; and he had no doubt but under his able presidency the Lodge would continue to improve . He paid a high and deserved compliment to his B . W . Deputy , Bro . Ward , for the great zeal he displayed for the Craft ; and it was with much confidence he placed the Lodges in the northern part of the province under his more immediate superintendence , and felt convinced that from time to time he ( the B . W . Brov . G . M . ) would hear of the advancement of their noble Craft . The Brethren then adjourned to the banquet , provided in the usual excellent style by Bros . Venables and Swift , to which about
thirty Brethren sat down . The W . M ., Bro . Hallam , presided , and was supported on the right by Bros . Colonel Vernon , R . W . Brov . G . M . ; Ward , B . W . D . Prov . G . M . ; A . Glover , P . M ., No . 803 , and Prov . G . J . W ., & c . ;—and on the left by Bros . W . K . Harvey , B . M ., No . 803 , and B . Prov . G . S . W . ; Dilworth , P . M . and P . Prov . G . P . ; Mason , P . M . and P . Prov . G . J . D ., & c . & c . Bro . Henry Hall , P . M . and P . Prov . G . S . B ., occupied the S . W . chair , in the unavoidable absence of Bro . Knight ; and Bro . P . S . M . Turner , P . M ., the J . W . chair . The usual loyal toasts were given from the chair , and duly honoured . A Masonic rendering of the National Anthem , introducing the following verses , was given by Bro . Thomas Mason , after the toast of "The Queen : "—
