Master , but more especially on the pleasure felt by the Members of the British Lodge in numbering amongst them Bro . Purton Cooper , Prov . G . M ., of Kent , of whose many Masonic virtues the M . W . G . M . had oh many occasions shown his appreciation , and oii the last festival for the Boy ' s School had allowed him the pleasure of proposing his ( the G . M ' s ) health . The W . M . in proposing the health of the Past Masters noticed the great services they had severally rendered to the British Lodge , and more particularly Bro . Piggot , the immediate P . M ., for the
able manner in which he had performed the ceremonies and discharged the duties of his office . Bro . Piggot wished that there was an express set of phrases whereby he could the more forcibly convey the pleasure he felt in having passed the chair of tliis Lodge , and further said that he had not sought Masonic honours out of it , but hoped that he might have the satisfaction of knowing that he had endeavoured to do his duty , which he was certain his brother Past Masters would continue to do . In proposing the health of the W . M . ( Bro . Baxter ) Bro . Piggot expressed the great satisfaction of the Lodge at the able manner he had performed the ceremonies and the Masonic feeling with which he presided , which fully proved that
the Brethren were justified in the choice they had made . The W . M . in proposing the health of the visitors , said he felt that he was greeting his personal friends , but he was sure that Bros . Dr . Hinxrnan , W . M . of No . 27 , and Cuff of No . 14 , were equally Masonic friends of every Brother of the British Lodge . Bro . Hinxrnan thanked the Brethren for the hospitable manner in which himself and brother visitor had been received , and also for the Masonic treat afforded in the excellent working they had witnessed , which he considered was worthy of the imitation of any Lodge . After drinking the health of the Officers , in proposing which the W . M . expressed himself highly delighted by the manner in which he had been supported , the Brethren separated in perfect harmony .
Tuscan Lodge ( No . 14 ) . — The meeting , on Tuesday 23 rd inst ., was a very agreeable and successful one ; but , much to the regret of all , was deprived of the presidentship of the worthy W . M ., Bro . Grissell , whose absence was unavoidable , owing to an engagement of importance . The chair was occupied by Bro . Ellis , P . M ., who discharged his duties most satisfactorily , initiating Mr . Thomas Fairey into the mysteries of the Order , and conferring the 3 rd Degree on Bro . Walter Bichardson , who displayed unusual ability in the necessary examination as to his progress in Masonic knowledge , thus setting an example worthy of imitation
by all candidates for preferment . Bro . J . C . Sharpe , S . W ., offered himself as Steward from the Lodge for the ensuing festival of the Girls'School , and was unanimously elected G . Steward for the year 1858-9 . About twenty-five Brethren sat down to an elegant banquet , and the evening was passed in perfect harmony . The visitors were Bros . Stohwasscr , P . M . No . 8 ; F . Binckes , P . M . No . 11 ; Cook , Reading , and Prior .

His attention to the interests of the Lodge had ever been most marked , and the Brethren trusted that the day was very far distant when they would lose the benefit of his valuable services . Bro .
