RamsgatIj . —Royal Navy Lodge ( No . 621 ) . —The Brethren of this Lodge met at Hiscock ' s Eoyal Hotel , on Wednesday the 17 th , under the auspices of their respected W . M ., Bro . Hodge / who opened the Lodge in due form , and was supported by Bros . H . Boys , Hayward , W . M . of the Margate Lodge , and Brazier . The alterations in the bylaws were read by the Secretary and
unanimously adopted . Mr . John White was ballotted for , and approved for initiation . Mr . John Scott David Rook was ballotted for , approved , and initiated into the mysteries of "Freemasonry by Bro . 0 . G . Phipps , P . M . and Prov . S . Gr . W . of Kent-j . the explanation of the working tools of the first Degree was given with great effect
by Bro . Phipps , who is most efficient in all the ceremonies , and from ' , his high standing in the Craft , invariable courtesy of manner , and willingness to instruct the Brethren in the inferior degrees , must do honour to any Lodge to which he belongs ; it is to be regretted he does not attend more frequently ; Bro . Phipps officiated as W . M . by the permission of Bro . Hodge . Bro . Palmer , of Dorney
Court , near Windsor , was next examined and afterwards raised to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . by Bro . Hodge , who performed this ceremony in an Impressive and eloquent manner , very much to the satisfaction of the Brethren . Bro . Smith was examined , and passed to the Degree of a Fellow-Craft by Bro . Hayward , W . M . of the Union Lodge , Margate , who officiated as W . M ., by the request of W . M . Bro . Hodge . The ceremony was conducted much to the satisfaction of the Brethren , and greatly to the credit of the W . M . Bro . H . The usual toasts were given and duly responded to—the entered apprentice ' s song was sung by Bro . B . P . Hiscocks , P . M . and Secretary . The S . W . Bro . Stevens , after due honours had been paid to the very worthy Steward , Bro . Jenson , for his indefatigable attention , finished the evening with the toast , "To all poor and distressed Masons . "

Bell and lladcliffe ( P . M . and W . M ., 434 ) . The Lodge was opened in the 1 st Degree , at 8 o ' clock , and the minutes duly read and confirmed . The Lodge was afterwards opened in the 2 nd Degreee by the W . M ., when Bros . Hartley and Edge were impressively passed to the Degree of F . C ., P . M . Bro . Clough , P . Prov . G . Cloxigh , in speeches characterized by deep feeling , expressive of the loss sustained by the Fraternity in Blackburn and the Eastern Division of Lancashire in the untimely death of the lamented Prov .
