G-eavesend . —Lodge of Freedom ( No . 91 ) .- —The ordinary monthly meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , March 15 , at Bro . Wate ' s Hotel , when a Brother was raised to the sublime Degree of a Master Mason , in the usual impressive manner for which the W . M ., Bro . Hills , is celebrated ; and after other business had "been transacted , a well-deserved tribute was paid by the members of the Lodge to Bro . Richard Watson , of the Belle Yue Tavern ( Prov . G . Sec ) , the immediate P . M ., by presenting him with a massive silver tankard ( to use the words of the inscription thereon ) " as a token of their esteem for him as a man and a Mason . "
By the request of the W . M ., the presentation was made in open Lodge by Bro . F . Dobson , the indefatigable Treasurer , in a speech alike remarkable for gracefulness of diction and for true Masonic affection for a woi'thy Brother . Bro . Watson thanked the Brethren for the testimony thus afforded -him of their regard , and in the course of his remarks touched somewhat at length on circumstances which have of late rather estranged the members of the Lodge . Of course we do
not attempt to give any rehearsal of the details , being unacquainted with the merits of the case ; and the more especially , as before the Brethren separated such hearty evidences were given of a re-union of sympathies and Masonic affection as unmistakably gave proof of the strength of" the tie that binds us . " The Brethren afterwards adjourned to the banquet , when a most harmonious evening was spent .
